I’m afraid that I cannot agree with this request in the slightest !

Whilst I agree that these alleged comments should not happen the vast, vast majority are said in the heat of the moment. Football is an emotive sport. Without that passion the sport may as well be bloody cricket !

As I say, I do not condone these comments, but to ask fellow supporters to “grass” others up is not on.

How many times on these pages do we hear about lack of atmosphere ? People get excited and possibly say things that they may not otherwise.

I would NEVER stoop to this level.

Looks like I may now go the same way as one of OVF’s finest contributors Source Of The Trent.

Shame on you Garlick.

Also, I’m a fan of 55 years standing and I take serious offence that Garlick does then not regard me as a true supporter.

I damn well walked to Hartlepool to watch Vale and raised over £750 for charity in 1986 !

But obviously I’m not a fan.

How long as Garlick been at this club ?

God, I’m annoyed.

I love his bit about Stewards. Obviously this will hit a nerve with a few on here but can any of the Stewards speak The Queens English ?

i've seen 3 people in front of me openly supping lager cans and were eyeballed by stewards who did.....yes you've guessed it. Sweet FA pardon the pun.

We all say things out of context or in the heat of the moment. Can't comment as we don't know the extremes used but in our world of Snowflakes something akin to ' you big girls blouse ' would now be a reportable offence.

A sad indictment of the society we now live in.

Just knew I'd come on here to see some Gammon defence of sexist comments.

If you blame sexism/racism/homophobia on the 'atmosphere' and the 'heat of the moment', you've got real problems.

I've been in loads of great atmospheres and, through great effort and conviction, have managed to avoid sexist remarks. It was difficult lads, and I had to have a lie down, but through sheer willpower, by God I held my tongue, and I managed to treat women at a football game in a way that was non-discriminatory. Where's my knighthood?

I've happily reported Vale fans for racist comments to officials in the past, and will continue to do so as long as I go.

I'm still chuckling at the idea that discrimination becomes acceptable if there's a bit of chanting and things are a bit lively ahahahhahahaa.

Darren; what exactly is your comment referring to about the Queen's English? Would quite like you to explain it as I'm struggling to understand myself.

Santa is spot on; the fanbase is riddled with gammon. Get rid of them.

The fact of the matter is that the behaviour of this individual is going to cost the club money because he couldn't keep his gob shut. There were comments about him on the Crewe match thread and some posters who had heard what was said were disgusted by the behaviour.

Now if some of you think that racist/sexist/homophobic comments to players or officials are acceptable and are not prepared to stand up against them then I'm afraid our club will continue to have its name dragged through the gutter by people like this.

When Garlick spoke about this last night at the SC meeting he was clearly quite angry and seems to be getting increasingly fed up with having to deal with incidents of this nature with the authorities. I think he has every right to ask for the help of supporters in stamping it out.

East Midlands as well, is that what it was about?

I don't know... but I did hear a shout of "you need these duck" (man waving a pair of specs in general direction). Which as we all come from S-o-T we know is not sexist. Merely a comment on the visual ability of the official.

There could have been worse for all I know.

No. You could hear a lot of the "banter" on ifollow and like I said maybe there was worse the we did not hear. I was more just musing on the use of the word "duck" in S-o-T than making a substantial point. Sorry.

The woman liner swapped sides in the second half, so she was on the Crewe side.

Having spent many away days with Vale fans and being quite often repulsed by the array of language and abuse of sexist and racist nature, this headline really didn't shock me.

The problem we've got is clowns thinkings discrimination is excusable in 'the heat of the moment' and any sane fan with a conscience who reports these Neanderthals are 'grassers', as opposed to people wanting to enjoy a game of football without wishing to see some form of discrimination.

Until this attitude changes, we're always going to be seen as that scummy, rough club, and are never going to diversify our fanbase away from the predominantly white male in between the ages of 30-55. I don't bring my family (especially the female members) due to the sort of incidents mentioned in this thread. These sort of incidents, where we get pulled up for discriminatory chants/remarks, happen nearly every season. Its becoming a pattern.
