It wasn't the 1950 election Sage, only a total of 28,771,124 votes cast there,Clement Atlee 13, 266,176 beat Winston Churchill 12,492,404 but the turnout was a very good 83.9%.

Labour won by 5 seats.

Surely this vote comparison has to recognise that the total electorate in 2016 was in the order of 46M, whereas in 1950 it was only 34M. Of course as the population increases the votes will increase, not all that much to shout about really. Not so noticeable in recent elections as interest waned, but the young renters will make their mark in the coming years.

The Withdrawal Agreement, chesh. Some MPs are obviously not aware that is required to leave. So much for honouring the Referendum.
Of course it is being honoured, it has been discussed to the detriment of lots of other national business. Picking the right deal is the problem, trouble was May changed the blind deal to an empty bucket and still not enough. Depends what parliament can come up with next week, maybe a system that does not require a border in Ireland.

If they haven't all stabbed each other or become 'spice' zombies. These are the new electorate, let's all rejoice.

The Withdrawal Agreement is required before anything is possible.344 MPs voted against it.34 Tories,The Remainder 310.

I predict there will be a general election before another referendum..... Labour will lose.... jezza will go..... 2 new leaders will be in charge of the main parties and both will reconsider the option of a second referendum before dismissing it as political suicide.

If the general election goes as badly as I suspect, no matter how much the parties try to spin it, a much harder line on brexit will be perused.

If we do have a general election it will at least give us a chance of ridding ourselves of all the rabble who have created this shambles.

Be afraid,be very afraid.
