"We were told that a shortfall of orders in the past 12 months and the effect of Brexit were the reasons for the job losses."

I wonder how many of them voted for it.

Unfortunately, going by the split of the vote in this area, around 62% of them. This is obviously really rotten news, especially as the jobs lost are good quality skilled jobs, and even worse it's likely there'll be much more of this in the next few years as Brexit bites.

Another positive week for Brexit news..!

IMF - That's the international monetary fund - have announced all outcomes will be damaging for the UK.

Then here's another...

Some more good news on a Monday morning.

£400bn leaving London destined for Europe and 8,000 jobs risked by uncertainty.

Taking back control. Sovereignty. Immigrants. Blue passport. Sod the Economy!

Do you genuinely believe this is scaremongering (project fear) or have you ever considered these are people genuinely concerned with Britain and the consequences of doing what we're doing?

The IMF tried all this negativity before the referendum,it didn't work then and it won't work now.

Give it up,it doesn't have any affect.

Dunner worry, there's always a silver lining.

More than 150,000 UK construction jobs are set to be created over the next five years despite Brexit uncertainty and Carillion’s collapse, according to a new report.

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) predicts 15,350 carpenters and 9,350 labourers will be needed as more homes are built.

Its mad that people think Britain and its population are so important the IMF would collude with literally every independent financial institution in the world to 'doom-monger'.

Hate to break it to you lads and lasses; Christine Lagarde could not give less of a **** if you're scared of Brexit.

My monthly reminder; Brexit is a truly woeful idea and a very, very silly thing to be doing.

So let me get this right - you only believe predicitions that support your argument and diss those that don't? These are all predicitions - you should handle them all with care.

Incidentally, how many more houses are going to be built in the next five years compared to the last five years?

Facts or predictions?

Facts. There will be no £350 million to the NHS. Politicians on all sides agree that we will not be able to stop immigration from the EU. The trade deal with the EU will not be "one of the easiest in human history". The Irish border issue was totally ignored by the Leave campaign as unimportant and it has become the key stumbling block of the negotiations.

I'm in the construction / property development game and can inform anyone who isn't aware that in 2016-17 the UK added 200,000 new homes. This compares to our peak year of 1967 when 425,000 new homes were added. The current 200,000 is a significant increase on a few years ago when we only built 125,000 homes, the lowest level since the 1920's, but is still nowhere near enough to satisfy demand.

The only way capacity will be increased is through a combination of government investment in public housing, availability of affordable plots, planning focusing on providing low cost mass housing instead of more lucrative detached housing and a massive increase in skilled construction workers. The increase in construction workers will not come through UK training anytime soon, it will only be achieved through immigration - assuming we can get EU workers to come post-Brexit! I am taking on an apprentice soon and it will be a minimum of three years before they will be able to produce independent skilled work and a couple of years after that before they'll be fully competent and independent, this is why the skills gap is not closed overnight.

So, where's the funding coming from to build these new homes and provide the skilled workers to do it? Can't see it coming from the austerity Tories and it certainly won't come from the private sector or it would have happened during the recent years of booming house prices.

Without a large scale public sector housing programme it won't happen and if the investment is made there'll be a big requirement for EU workers but isn't that what the Brexiteers voted against?

There has only been negativity where Brexit is concerned. You can't even give any positives yourself.

False hope comes too mind 😂

It doesn't have any affect on you, yes - but let's be honest if the truth came up and slapped you square in the face you'd still be non the wiser and probably shout fake news.

Marvellous how bad Brexit is NOW,Where were the so well informed telling us this before the referendum.SOTT,the property developer, quotes 425,000 houses built in 1967.In 1967 we were not in the Common Market.Just something I noticed. No one truly knows the pros and cons of Brexit.Strange how the well informed are now agreeing with Mark Carney but slated George Osbourne for his predictions.Must be a leftie thing.
