One of the best managers we ever had. The moaners wanted him gone halfway through promotion season, no need to name names.

 

Well I wasnt one of them, check and see. Great manager, his only blot was to say he got bored at Vale shortly after leaving the second time, but we all say things at times.

Yeah, I think that's what puts me off when people say they'd have him back. Doubt his heart would be fully in it, but to me from this move it looks like he wants to either take a bit of a break or wind down his career anyway.

He was a brilliant manager full stop for this club. The saddest thing is that he didn't get the successful jump back to the championship or better that he deserved. I remember reading an article from The Guardian saying he had struggled to find work. The Sligo Rovers job was well beneath him.

Weren't Sheff utd in the championship when he went there.

I agree, he was a manager who IMHO seemed to be a bloke that you wanted to work for, he was cantankerous and prickly at times but to me he was extremely charismatic. It's something that is imperative in lower league management where you need players to join and play for you despite the fact that the club is on its arse, wages are poor and their maybe better offers out there.

 

It's a characteristic that IMHO Brown doesn't seem to have.

I was really surprised when MA left, there was planty of time to right the ship that year.

 

I agree. We had a bad start but I felt he could have turned it around. Some on here called him a dinosaur and demanded him gone citing that we could do much better. I doubt we would be where we are now had Micky still been here.

To be honest the decline of the club over recent times can pretty much be identified as beginning when he left.
