Encouraging that apparently many young people are registering to vote, as Labour are popular amongst the youngsters. This is with policies that are in the main old fashioned socialism which they may see as giving them some hope for the future for a fairer society instead of the Tories carving everything up for themselves again.

It is good to see the polls closing as Mays cynical decision to call a snap election before the public realises how bad for the country a hard brexit will be, will hopefully backfire.

In the long run I believe brexit will be good for the country as who will the Daily Mail blame for the countrys ills then?

And if the American experience is anything to go by the younger generations' use of social media will impact the end result far greater than party policies.

I thought that in America, it was the older generation that decided the outcome?

As for current poll standings, I think it's too much to turn over, however getting close would put labour in a great position. I don't think that we will get a great deal from the eu whoever is in charge, and so whoever does it will get punished next election. May is running a very poor campaign though.

Yes and no Andy.

One of the most striking differences for politicians these days is the way social media scrutinises their every move, and with 'fake' headlines to boot.

As I see it there is an angry groundswell in western democracies discontent with career politicians seemly hell bent on rewarding the rich at the expense of everyone else.

And trump was the opposite. And his vote increased dramatically as you go up in age groups. It was exactly the same pattern as brexit.

Trump is a businessman as opposed to career politicians and that fact alone is the reason why so many career politicians are causing mither for him.

In Australia currently it is clearly evident that the young disenfranchised voter will play a significant role in elections - both State and Federally.

Does this mean that if it goes pear shaped we get to blame the kids for a change?

There has been a growing disillusionment about politics for many years... usually hidden under the umbrella of apathy. Its more than simple apathy although that plays its part.

All the political parties have lost their meaning, their core values, the simple things that attracted their supporters... its all about who has control, who has the power, who makes the decisions... not what the decisions should be.

Im a cynic by nature, if someone is telling me what they think I want to hear I ask why?... why not just ask me?

I dont want to hear the big statements about how much they intend to invest in the NHS... I want to hear how they will make it better... not what the cost is, you cant cost something you cant quantify and just throwing money at it wont rectify the decay within the system.

I want to hear how they will regenerate areas outside london and the south not how much it will cost, or how much they promise to "invest".

I want to know how they intend to deal with the housing problems in all areas... oh and so much more.

Then I want to know the costs and very importantly where the damn money will come from.... in detail... not just increase taxes for some.

Blaming all the woes on immigration is playing the blame game at its simplest.... so is blaming the rich... so is blaming the old simply because they are old and more dependent on the system they were sold as being their birthright, what they were paying into year after year after year.

I could go on and on... Ive lived through the "get on ya bike" era, power cuts because of strikes, 3 day weeks, you have never had it so good, bin strikes and miners strikes, the promises made by the parties and the let downs that followed.

significant compared to older people, or significant compared to previously? The polls in this country and the USA are clear. If you only took the votes of those under 40, trump would have lost and remain would have won. The reason being given for the closing of the gap in this country has been credited to Tory policies affecting the older generation. Makes me think nothing has changed.

Both young and older Australians are paying for middle class welfare e.g. Paid Parental Leave upwards to 21 weeks vis-à-vis long term unemployed having to undergo compulsory drug tests if they are deemed to be using benefits for other than living expenses.

The main concern 'Downunder re. housing policy is one of Melbourne and Sydney being the main beneficiaries as opposed to the other major cities.

The Daily Mail will blame the EU for not giving us a better deal than the members of the EU have.
