The Point......Getting lapsed fans back isnt enough, it wont solve the financial problem. We need more new blood than we do old allegiances.

What would I do... Get the marketing department to work or leave... advertise well in advance... give away as many tickets as is reasonable... target stoke on trent instead of vale park... for starters.

Can't disagree with any of that. And I certainly didn't think you're original post was waffle just wanted the bit about what to do

Yesterday at 1.30 I drove along high lane from Hanley towards Chell. I was distraught by the number of red and white coats, hats and scarves I saw making their way to buses and cars to travel 15 mile to that place when Vale is 1 or 2 mile down the road. There were groups of them coming off the estate by the green star, I was nearly sick over my steering wheel.

Smurf doesnt agree with freebees....

He doesn't seem to realize that letting someone occupy some space for nothing doesn't actually cost him anything as the facilities and staff are already there. The benefits of having them on side would earn him more money by encouraging people to pay to attend.

There is no profit in an empty seat.

There's even less in giving them away, if you have to increase the stewarding ratio to accommodate people in free seats.

It's crystal clear we need to do something, but giving anything away in any business is a tough act to follow.

You go to a school and give away 100 free tickets to admit 1 child and 1 adult... some come some dont, there is a chance that some of those that do buy something... if there is something to buy...

You follow it up by doing the same at a different school... you lose nothing even if you dont gain anything except the free publicity of doing it.

Rotate it between schools, youth clubs [or whatever they are now], local junior leagues etc etc but dont forget the older groups.... in a very wide area... say stone/stafford to congleton

So it's the fans fault again then is it? Predictable. Lazy. Unfortunately it's the same view our Chairman holds. Just look at the results. Crumbling / tired ground, attendances dropping, atmosphere non existent. Keep blaming the fans though, that will get them flocking through the turnstiles.

It's funny that nobody ever mentions our crumbling/tired ground when we win 4-0.

Why is that?

Anybody?
