Strange. We've already got Taylor, Purkiss, Gibbons and at a stretch Macintosh that can play there. You'd have thought our priorities in the squad would be elsewhere.

 

This lad has played most of his football in the non-league. The Chelsea academy link is just headline click bait from the Sentinel. So I'm not blinded by the fact he was at Chelsea as a kid, I'm sure that left back we signed Dean-Conteh was originally in Chelseas academy, look how he turned out.

Full backs don't win you promotion. As mentioned above, we've got at least 2 good right backs, what is the thinking behind potentially signing another one?

gibbons too inexperienced atm , macintosh way to inconsistent , purkiss possibly on his way out, yates still injured . it would be fair to say a decent right back may be required as I think taylor will be required in midfield now .

a big strong centre forward with pace will be on the list I have no doubt as will another winger .

Point being we've already got 2 decent right backs on the books in Purkiss and Taylor (whos predominantly a right back than a midfielder). If needed the club will keep hold of Purkiss until the end of his contract. Granted Gibbons is one for the future and he seems highly rated and Macintosh is a make do at that position. But if someone said the club are looking to bring in a new player, a full back would probably have been one of the last positions we think of.

I thought he had a decent game against Charlton.He can certainly cross a ball.
