Yates stayed on reduced terms, and I don't have a problem with him being back-up to Purkiss.

 

Although Yates got roasted on Saturday, that winger would have troubled most full-backs in this league.

 

However I think Purkiss would have been the right man at Wigan, and I don't know why he's out of the side at present (and none us do - for all we know there could be very good reasons).

 

I hope Purkiss is back tomorrow.

Purkiss had been good but recently has suffered a dip in form and an injury. Burton he got done for their goals and millwall he was poor, hence why he was dropped for Bradford and Wigan, HOWEVER id still prefer him in the side than Yates.

Yates is alright, no worse than Duffy, Dickinson, Mcgivern, he dose,nt go missing like some of the others, and he stands on the line for corners no one else seems to. He's one of the whipping boys on here same as Dodds...

Yates couldn't do the basics on Saturday.The LW had the freedom of the DW.

The back four had a mare on Saturday,not for the first time.Innis, Purkiss and Streete should be the first 3 names on the team sheet tomorrow.

They all probably will but like all those who played on Saturday they all have a mistake on them.

I did,nt go Saturday but according to R.Joke with there winger and forwards he and the other defenders were in for a bad day at the office, Duffy seems to have gone off the boil these last few games, after the deflection went in he seemed as though he did,nt want to go anywhere near the ball, I agree with your 3 other defenders Innis although young seems to hold the others together. Whats happened to Grant since he got sent off he's gone w***, Moore he's the same, Page should chop and change if a player plays bad drop him, if you know your on the team sheet every game why bother to put a shift in?

yates should not be anywhere near the 1st team squad, unless we are desperate. Yes good squad player but Purkis was our most consistent performer all season. All of them have messed up this season, just don't understand why he stuck with last seasons back 4. At least we will see a run of Innis in the team now. Needs to start with Purkis, Innis, Street, Dicko (only guess no other left back!) tomorrow night.

For what we pay for him Yates is ok as back up. Sadly against any form of decent winger he really struggles. Terrible performance Saturday but he hasn't been too bad otherwise this season.

Probably, uppermost in Page's mind when he re-signed him on reduced terms was that he wasn't a player that would help us get promoted but he was a player that would help keep us up if need be. He's capable of stopping most L1 forwards, just not those that have the technical ability of Wigan's on Saturday.

Surely its the managers/assistants job to do the research on opponents, so as to play the most suitable player. The guy Yates was marking was really quick so Page should have played the much quicker Purkiss imho

To be honest I would be very surprised to know that we do any research on opponents whatsoever. If we do, it doesn't show for me.

 

Not criticizing, just don't think we do.
