Game off!!!

Drainage has always been a problem at VP. Could be cured at a cost by replacing the clay pitch with a sand based one and proper drainage. Maybe not necessary to have pumped drainage like Swansea with its heavier rainfall. However we do not have the problems of preparing the pitch for a televised game with Liverpool next weekend, although we already have the pools!

Stafford Rangers game against Carlton is still on, might go down and watch. They are doing well at the moment. Only £9 in and plenty of free parking.

...I wonder if this game could be re-arranged for a week on Tuesday - 12th Jan? Both teams are free and it would give us a 2nd home game in January, and much needed income. If not (too soon for Staffordshire's finest?) we have 4 of our next 5 games away from home, and we're not exactly picking up a load of points in our away games. If not, then it looks like February, as neither team has a midweek fixture that month.

if it was constantly raining now I could understand it but to be the only game called off in the whole of England is ridiculous I can remember when pitches were mudbaths and the game was still on....remember V stoke in the FA Cup !!!

 

Watch a few old first division games on Youtube in the 60s and 70s todays Refs and footballlers are wimps in my opinion!!

I reckon Smurf gambled on a change date in the hope that there will be a lot more interest when the game is re-scheduled. Sounds desperate I know but reality

We were going around town last night and it was lashing it down.It had been raining all day.(in fact it has rained nearly all year ;) )We talked about about the match being called off.

 

There is still time for more pitch inspections,time to call more games off.
