Has Norman had enough

Student of the game

Recommended Posts

If as he says, Norman is not the man to run the Vale, he has 2 choices, either to sell the club which could take a while, or to employ a CEO. Obviously on results Norman is a successful business man, but it is the first time he has run a football club. We all know how to do that, but in actual practice it is not that simple. Employing a CEO (Or a Football Director), would give expert knowledge in a specialist field, in the same way as buying a business which you have no knowledge of does. Not that it ensures success but would enable Norman to concentrate on the commercial side if he wishes to keep the club.

Smurf's reaction is fully understandable. The team has just lost in an inept manner to a club a division below us. Yes it's a financial pain for Smurf. But more importantly he is undoubtedly a Vale fan. He's become one. It's like a drug and he will find it nigh on impossible to kick it. Smurf is black and white through and through. You have to take the pain to fully appreciate the upsides. Those upsides will return and Smurf will still be at the helm. The best chairman we've had in my 47 years of supporting this great club. After a defeat I say some pretty pathetic things on here because it hurts so much. 48 hours later I am ready to go again. Smurf is one of us and it is great that he feels the same pain as us because like us he will enjoy those heady moments all the more. I suggest Smurf watches the Burton Albion 7:1 video to remind himself exactly why all of this madness is worth it for moments like that.

Point being? Is this a comment in support of or a dig at Deano? Can't comment on today as wasn't there, but for the majority of Vale fans Grant is player of the year so far.

He was certainly my POTY six weeks ago. now I can't look beyond Jak Alnwick.

Grant is the best midfielder we've had at the club in years.

O'Connor was player of the year last year.

Ajay was in the shortlist for the Football League's player of the month

Graham McGarry should go boil his head.

We have 3 very good midfielders the problem is higher up the pitch and at the back with the man who blames everybody but himself. It is the system that we are playing r playing that is wrong and the manager picks that if he cannot see that he deserves the sack.

Graham McGarry made a comment on R. Stoke today whilst commentating on the game at Exeter.. Went something like, 'most of these players were locked in a relegation battle last year, or last two years'

Very true, some were Vale players, some were Crewe players who for the last two years were relegation battle, (and one a Yeovil player?)

How can we expect them to be promotion quality?

Who gave them contracts?

I don't expect them to be promotion quality, a chance of creeping into the POs maybe, certainly half way. It should be possible by picking the best players out of two struggling teams to make a better team.

Just seen Normans Tweets about not being the man to take the club forward. This is more worrying than the Page debate. Think Page should feel very shamed tonight.

You have had enough snuf. Try enduring this garbage since you were a lad.

You picked the manager. You endorsed his team. You had an opportunity to get into the dressing room pat half time and tell the bald Bafoon and his bunch of bottlers that they should want to go into the next round to play a team from the premier.

But most of all you should have told them the financial cost to the club should Exeter draw out Man United or worse Joke City on Monday.

We have little opportunity of changing things.

Page is about as inspirational as a toilet and needs to go.

Will depend if we would have had the same number as Exeter, glad to miss Joke at present.

All very worrying. I think smurf was expecting to get at least something back on all the money he has spent. With crowds dwindling, a mid table finish, and Stoke going from strength to strength I believe we are in for some dark days.

Hope and pray I am wrong.

My worry too, back to the 70s

The problem is Norman that it doesn't matter what you put in to the club. With some fans it will never be enough, there will always be some excuse to not show up. You could get Guardiola in as manager and some will find another excuse to not go. I also believe some fans will not be happy till the club has gone so they can get on their high horse and preach about how it was always on the cards. Hey some fans are even blaming Stoke for being in the Premier League for not showing up.

I hope that you don't go but would understand if you did because o think your being made a mug of every week by those stayaways and lay preachers on here. All I ask is that if you do decide to go make sure that you hand it over to someone with as much passion as your good self and has the club at heart as you had. I thank you personally for saving my club its a shame that some of the others don't say it but you have us a 4 year extension on our club but it wasn't you that eventually killed it, that was the fans who would not back you and the club no matter what.

Stokes recent success must be affecting potential fans. How can any parent convince their child that sitting in an cold, gloomy, empty stadium, totally devoid of any atmosphere or passion is better than watching the other local team turnover one of the richest clubs in the world. That child will either choose the draw of the premier league or probably not bother with football at all. There are times when loyalty can easily border on stupidity. Just look at our fan base, it's mainly made up of older fans and it appears Vale are almost missing an entire generation from its potential pool of supporters. I wonder where they are?

That's one of best posts that I've read on here.

Not sure where and with who the problem starts and indeed ends.

That said, I do think that Page should go.
