Best keeper at the club? No disrespect at all to Chris Neal, but it's beginning to look that way. Incredible to think that if we hadn't offered him a contract, he could possibly not be with a club right now.

 

I also wonder how much of his performances have been down to Dave Timmins.

 

We have to keep him, don't we? Having said that, can we keep him? As I stated in the match thread, if his agent is worth his salt, Jak will have been offered to most clubs in the league right now and probably requesting a lot more money than we are currently paying him, particularly as he's only 22.

Alnwick has been superb. He has looked a completely different player to the lad who frequently crumbled in a Newcastle shirt last season. Well done to the lad. He'll be up against his brother in our next League game at Vale. Has there ever been two brothers as opposition keepers in a league game - the Springetts perhaps??

It can't be going unnoticed how well Jak is playing we will be lucky to hold on to him beyond this short term contract. He's not only the best keeper at our club I reckon he's up there with the best keepers in the football league.

Ha! Can you remember when it was rumoured that Joe Anyon was Premiership bound? And when Daniel Lloyd-Weston was invited to Old Trafford so they could take a look at him? Now we've got a genuine find - for free! - in Jak but may let him just walk out of the club in less than 3 months. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

He's okay but nothing special, he's only made a couple of worldies in the last 2 games but nothing to write home about. Actually get him signed up as soon as possible he's been great. Talking about the same thing at HT and thoughts are that he's doing a great job and possibly better than Neal. Hopefully Page will do the decent thing and keep him in until Alnwick deserves to be dropped. If of course he's still here.

He really is a fantastic keep. Better than Neil in my opinion. We can't afford to keep both of them, so given their ages I'd be looking to offload Neil and out our money into Alnwick. Lots of sell on value there.

 

I'd be looking to offload Johnson at least, possibly Boot as well, although Boot hasn't put a foot wrong, given the choice it's got to be Alnwick and Neal and 4 keepers at this level is silly.

"He's ok but nothing special" disagree Neil whole heartedly matey this keeper is the best we have seen at Vale for many years.

This is going over the top. Alnwick has improved considerably since he has been with the Vale but is a long way behind Neal. Good to very good on the line but does not command his area or organise the defence. Also some of his decision making is poor. One of Johnson and Boot needs to go out on loan now and the other when Neal is fit. And certainly one of them needs to play on Tuesday.
