Just wondering is Duffy under contract or still waiting for his answer?

Duffy has had some very good games for us at centre half and I'm sure he'd be the first to say he only really offers cover as a right back because it isn't his natural position. I for one am glad he's still got a year left as he will genuinely compete for a first team place and having a squad with players of his calibre in it makes for a genuinely strong squad in L1 with some depth and flexibility to it. Whichever players start in defence on 8th August they will have to perform because we now have serious contenders for those positions who will be all to ready to claim the starting spots.

 

All we need now is the same strength and competition amongst the strikers.

Duffy isn't the worst defender we have but he is frightening with a ball at his feet. Somebody needs to burn his Franco Baresi DVDs and tell him not to pass the ball sideways or backwards.

...it would appear though, that Page doesn't really rate him enough to be a regular starter, and I suspect that Duffy may want regular 1st team football. Perhaps he is one of those that Smurf was referring to when he said there would be some coming and some going next week.

Possibly cancel his contract by mutual consent (with no payout if he wants to leave) and let him ply his trade elsewhere?

There is about as much chance of an under contract on good money modern day footballer agree to have a contract cancelled by mutual consent without a payoff as there is of a conservative MP being voted in in Stoke North.
