With the ITV Digital and Football Trust money that just isn't there any more. Could someone else have done a better job given that sort of money? Almost certainly yes.

 

He also came close to sacking Rudgie in 1988 and did sack him in 1999. Billy Bell certainly wasn't the hero that you make him out to be as anyone in the Burslem business community knew at the time. Smurf has the edge over him and anyone else who has come since.

And for those dragging up the past please don't rewrite history. I never met or spoke to Peter Miller as I had resigned and left the SC committee way before his arrival.

 

Also if you look back onto the OVF threads of the time you will see that the plaques came long after I had resigned from the SC, the plaques were not chosen by me but I chose to protect a good friend without whose tireless efforts we would never have seen a statue in place who quite simply didn't need the hassle at the time.
