Premier League B teams to enter JPT

The Sentinel's banging on about how we could be playing Stoke's B Squad in the competition next year, as if it's something to look forward to. Screw that!

More and more, I feel that I'd like nothing to do with the Premiership. Whilst it will always remain most clubs' ultimate goal, I wish the 72 league teams didn't act so subserviently to the other 20, lying down and rolling over to get their tummies tickled. Greg Dyke can just get ******. If Steve Evans chinned him, that'd be good.

I don't think it's a unilateral decision by the Football League. The PL are very keen on this whole "League Three/B teams" thing and have in the past used the threat of withdrawing the solidarity payment if things don't go their way.

The solidarity payment is the fee the PL gives to the FL out of their enormous TV rights pay packet. I think it's 300k per year for League One sides. For clubs like Vale, that's a considerable sum.

When the PL wanted to introduce the frankly appalling parachute payments (giving relegated clubs a £60m advantage over their rivals) they basically told the Football League to accept their parachute payment proposal or have the solidarity payments withdrawn/reduced.

I would not be surprised if the same option has been given to League clubs for this equally silly idea.

The JPT is THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE TROPHY ,a competition for clubs from Leagues 1 and 2.If the Prem clubs want to use their B teams they can use them in the Capital One or The FA CUP.The first teams only appear in most cases in the later stages of those competitions.Let them all fight it out by trying to win The Premier League. Then the poor littles lambs will only need to play one game per week.

wouldnt even bother entering if they all premier B in

probably have to play matches on Premier B grounds or training pitches as well - can you imagine crowds of typical JPT gates in premiership grounds ?

greedy premiership stuff again I'm afraid. They couldnt careless if the Football league folded
