There are some interesting points raised in a piece by Owen Gibson of the Guardian. Namely:

Scudamore sat at a press conference three years ago and warned clubs not to squander their 70% increase entirely on agents and wages. They proceeded to largely ignore him and, without intervention, there is nothing to suggest they won’t do the same again

Over recent years, the Premier League has become increasingly aware of the fact it must be seen to be helping those beyond its borders... But the fact is the majority of that cash goes to Football League clubs in the form of parachute payments to relegated clubs and so-called “solidarity payments”. Only around 4% of the Premier League’s income filters down to the grassroots.

matchday income becomes comparatively less important – a club such as Chelsea now only make just over a fifth of their overall revenue from ticket sales...

Read this:

Then ask yourself if football is spiralling downwards out of control.

"Asked whether clubs should also use the new money to reduce ticket prices because of their status as “staggeringly wealthy” organisations, Scudamore answered: “Staggeringly wealthy in what sense? Not all of them make profits."

Scudamore earlier said he remained confident that the Premier League “attracts a whole lot of positive feelings about the UK."

The man is mental.

Are Blatter and Scudamore in competition against each other to see who can damage English football the most and also make the most pathetic statement?

The end is nigh for the Football League.

Will be interesting what happens to kick off times apparently Sky will want to maximise the Far East, Australasia and USA markets the analysts on the radio this morning were saying that the 3pm saturday kick off could well disappear the football league and the non league are now under serious threat, all the money going to just 20 clubs is just wrong.

The BIG question is -can anything be done to stop it,can we do anything to stop it killing the football league?

I also think it's disgusting that a league that has just brokered a deal of this kind has just one club (Chelsea) who pay its groundstaff the living wage. .

That is indeed a good point..a friend of my mother in law has just got a job as a cleaner at the Etihad..cleaning up the seats/stands after matches and whilst she is not direcly employed by City but goes thru the company that won the contract she will be paid only slightly more than the minimum wage.

A chance for City to do something for the community by directly employing people on a proper living wage and they haven't taken that chance..doesn't sit well at all..indeed just plain wrong

Just found out that she turned down the job after convincing the guy who runs the firm that she was not fit enough to do cleaning work

Althoughy oddly she 'tops up' her benefits by doing....cleaning work

Still no excuse for City to pay so little

Who looks after the interests of the football league?

There are other TV stations is anyone actively trying to secure decent TV deals for football league games or do they just accept the first paltry offer. Surely its saleable?

Do we get anything for appearing on the Football League Show or FL72 KS?. The Football League should ask the BBC and SKy to up the ante if we do or if we don't start demanding.Never mind payments for the odd game ,an equal share for all league clubs. How about a starting figure of £72 million? That with the PL coughing up will help the lower leagues no end.
