Mignolet isn't a bad keeper by any means, but he's not commanding enough. I think Reina would have been ideal right now. His best days might be behind him but he was a leader and I think the defence would be better organized if he was behind it. I wouldn't necessarily say he was a leak wink, mind.

Why so much painful analysis of a has-been club, nobody analyses Manchester United or Arsenal nearly as much. Perhaps it is because Liverpool and their supporters have a massive fish and chip shop on their shoulder, and an overblown sense of their own importance. 25 years without a title must hurt for such a deserving club.

 

It shows up in all aspects, when really they are just a declining mid-table Prem club who had one good season thanks to a brilliant and gifted, yet demented violent biting maniac who they relied and cannot replace. Tragic though Hillsboro was, we also get it with that, as Heysel barely ever gets a mention nor does the Bradford fire. Remember there are Heysel and Bradford families too.

 

Everton also suffer from the spotlight being played on their poor victimised and unlucky neighbours, as this optimistic refreshing club never get the credit they deserve as the best team in the 'city of culture'.

 

Perhaps nobody on this site is as passionate about any other PL club.

IMO opinion they need to look at the goalkeeper, need a centre half to organise the defence and a strong central midfilder..Cech, Terry and Matic basically :) And to do the unthinkable and drop Gerrard..he's not worth his place at the moment

I agree abut dropping Gerrard, but only in the role he's now playing. He doesn't have the legs anymore and in that position you need to be able to get about the pitch. He's still got lots of quality on the ball and personally when he's playing I'd rather see him much further up the pitch. Cech will never happen, Mourinho and Chelsea wouldn't allow it and he'll probably go abroad. Victor Veldez would be a good signing and wouldn't cost a penny. He's been around what seems forever but is only 32 I think, which is relatively nothing in terms of age when it comes to goalkeepers. I've said it a number of times now, we missed a trick when Alex Song went to West Ham as he's exactly the type of player we're lacking in midfield.

Huge win for us today. The 2nd half was as entertaining as the 1st half was drab. Good to see Sterling coming back into form. He was good in midweek and the best player on the pitch today. Bojan being Stoke's, he was lively throughout and it took a wonderful save from Mignolet to deny him and to give Liverpool 3 much needed points.

 

Every win should give the side that little bit more confidence, and that's what we are lacking more than anything else right now.
