West Brom friendly.

This is true, although a lot of teams played their last friendly yesterday. Just hope we come out of it injury free.

...especially Pope, as we have no replacement of a similar ilk. Walsall fans seem to think that a "bruiser" like Pope will give their lacking-in-height defence all sorts of problems. Perhaps MA ought to give the Pontiff a rest for this one.

U can look at this friendly in many different ways .

1 take it easy lose and insult the paying supporters .

2.go full tilt win ,send a resounding message out that Vale r going be a force this season and make those fans who were not going attend on sat want too attend .

3 rest all the players and lose badly with sat in mind ,annoying the Burton /Northampton /wolves come out occasionally brigade.

Its 2 every time for me because the Southport result sent out the wrong message especially when folk may still be ifffing and rrring whether too attend Vale Park at all.

Win Vale and win well .

Not bothered about friendlies, never have been and never will be.

The real stuff starts on Saturday. Personally I don't care what we do against West Brom - even though I work in an office full of Baggies fans - just beat Walsall.

For the West Brom match on Tuesday,Vale are likely to turn out their team for Saturday's opener against Walsall.

The Baggies lost their last match 1-0 yesterday in a friendly at Nottingham Forest.

Views and opinions please.

First and foremost it is imperative that we avoid serious injuries to our key men before Saturday. It's really about putting the finishing touches to the squad ahead of Saturday, putting the final touches to our shape and making sure the lads are generally ready for the season ahead.

Going full tilt in a friendly 3 days prior to the start of the season is an absolutely ridiculous idea. The last thing needed is to pick up injuries to key players, with little or no recovery time.

You are more likely to get injured playing half hearted, get stuck in to them I say
