It is sad to see because Brazil has been an excellent world cup. But the team Brazil has is modest compared to some past teams and particularly the 1970 team.

DF 2 Brito

DF 16 Everaldo

MF 5 Clodoaldo

Anyone know the current odds on Argentina to win the final?

Generally about 5/2 or 13/5 but the best price you can currently get is 3/1 at Bwin.

Germany currently the shortest odds to win the trophy as they're the only team definitely in the final.

Argentina are not in the final, and with any justice they will not get there.

They are 3.50 to lift the trophy though.

Seems that the know-alls have already switched from Brazil to new 'certs' Germany, without remembering what a fondness the Dutch have for Germans. Players like Robben know all about the German game too, he plays his club football there.

The shocking thing about Brazil (I've only just stopped laughing) was that only the finishing was magnificent from Germany, their general play was good, maybe bordering on very good, but certainly not unbeatable by either Argentina or better still the Netherlands.

Bye bye Brazil, from legends to leg - ends.

Argentina have a super star in Messi and two other world class players in Di Maria and Aguero. Di Maria is not fit and that's extremely bad news because he is key to Messi finding space and is also a supreme runner. Aguero has scored 21 goals in 47 games for Argentina and is supposed to be fit. So that is a bonus, but he can't replace Di Maria's engine. So we will see. Van Persie has a bug of some sort and also there are other doubts over Dutch players like Vlaar. Germany by virtue of an easy game and an extra day's rest have an advantage now, but both the Netherlands and Argentina could beat Germany.

Best World Cup since '82.

Come on Netherlands, let's have a repeat of the '74 final - all European.

Brazil have been over hyped as usual and they were found out tonight by a German team who reflect their country; professional, well organised, hard working and a passionate TEAM who play for eachother and national pride. Look how annoyed they were at conceding a last minute goal when they were seven up! We could and should learn a lot from them. I know Germany and the people quite well and they are very similar to us in a lot of ways, hardly surprising when you look at the ethnic / cultural roots of both nations. There is no reason we can't - in time - match them.

This tournament has been all about teams for me, eg, Germany, Chile, USA, Costa Rica - all excellent units not necessarily containing all superstar players. It's what we expect from the Vale and is what football is all about, being a good team.

Greg Dyke and co should forget their numpty idea of Premier 'B' teams playing in our lower divisions and look at how the Germans produce consistently good sides. Try looking at schools and grass roots football Greg, it's too late by the time lads get to the top professional clubs.

Brazil were disorganized and capitulated to a very good German team.

The great Brazilian teams had players with extraordinarey technique, skill and creativity coupled with strength, this team was just based on physicality and power.

Yawn. We heard all this about Messi in 2010, and what happened when they came up against Germany? Messi barely got a touch, and the Argies got torn a new ********.

Neither Holland nor Argentina will get near Germany. The best team in the tournament by a country mile
