At the end of the day we are a third tier football club, we've been higher, we've been lower but I truly believe this is our real level, it could be better but I'm sure the likes of Bristol Rovers, Stockport, Wrexham and even Portsmouth would swap places for now. Be ambitious but more so be realistic!

We have ambition - but sometimes I think Smurf could do with some help. He is trying to do a lot of jobs behind the scenes to save money and does not go around shouting about it. We have to abide by the rules and Smurf wants the club to be self sufficient and not need loans etc.

 

Once we get some players to sign we will be all happy bunnies again. It is just when we will see some players signing. Then some posters will be booting up player manager to see their stats and then slag off MA's.

Its become painfully clear that we are just not going to get any further under the current regime. The club is crying out for serious investment that norm simply cannot provide. I predict a fall in gates this season along with low morale and a below middle table finish or relegation. Wasnt it barry fry who said promotion to the championship is worth approx 8 mill a year? Without new investment we have reached our plateau. 1000 negative ticks by this post will not alter the facts

I know what your saying but disagree slightly...

I think we probably have some ambition, whether its enough or not is debatable, but we are sadly lacking in ability off the pitch... we may also be lacking ability on the pitch at the start of the season if we dont sign some decent replacements.

For all the money smurf says he has thrown at vale it hasnt moved forward as a business. He now appears to want to move the business forward using only the profit generated by the business... great in principal... but if the business isnt making a profit or only making a small profit progress is hampered, either by the mounting debt caused by the loss or the small amount available to reinvest from the minimal profit.

He's supposed to be worth a few quid and a few weeks back said he would personally up the budget to back the manager in bringing quality in.

 

So far this hasn't happened for whatever reason.

 

I said at the end of the season I would be glad to see us get rid of 7/8 if it meant bringing in 4 quality first teams players who are better than what we had.

 

At the moment that's looking less likely and we've lost a lot of goals through the side.

 

Still few weeks to go to get these in but it does seen Micky is looking at other options because we've been turned down on his number one options in the last week or so.

 

I believe he will sort it out but it could be a big battle next season.

Exactly. We have come along way on and off the pitch. some areas could be better but we are miles ahead of where we were. I would also think that our budget is being massively scrutinised by the FA due to admin and the over generous forecasting for last season. The time to worry and moan is not now. Give Micky a chance to build a team and let's get behind him and the club.

Things will start picking up when a few new heads arrive.NS and MA won't just be sitting on the ***** moaning like a lot of folk on here.

They will be chasing certain individuals and on the phone relentlessly just like every other club in the FL.Be patient, players will come of that you can be sure.One things for certain though.They won't be household names.So give all newcomers a chance eh !
