I'm undecided on dicko. I'm not sure what wages he's on but I'd expect it to be pretty high and a top earner so if he's been offered reduced terms he will see what else is on offer elsewhere won't he anyway.

Perhaps could get better for the money, but he can play as a centre half if needed so I probably would like him to stay.

I think its the wages, discipline and the amount of goals we've conceded down his side of the field of play. If we could get him on lower wages he'd be a good squad player but hopefully we will be at the top end of the league next season and like with Griff I think we need to move on if possible from those whose never say die attitude (which I love, reminds me of Sam Stockley) mask their true quality.

If he stays then I think Loft or someone similar would need to play in front to protect him and we need a quality left back to challenge him and a quality left sided central defender to cover him.

We need to sign Knott, a winger , a forward and two centre backs , plus retain what we have.

Agree with that,Id like to see us sign Billy Clarke,Just released from Crawley,Think he's after a move back north,Always rated him as a player and think he would be a good foil for Pope,Williamson and Hugill .

Obviously all speculation and rumours at the moment but going back to the original thread post I think Peter Clarke would be a great aquisition and we badly need more defensive strength, Byron Moore has always looked a decent player to me when we've played the Trainspotters, Jimmy Ryan is a bit unknown to me and Marc Richards is a definite no-no; I appreciate what he did when he was here but he's now past his sell-by date and Pope didn't come into his own until Rico left, plus Popey is IMHO a better player with a better attitude.

I was looking through the American leagues last night and there's some cracking players over there at the minute, Lloyd Sam, Bradley Wright Phillips , yanick djalo plus others given birchalls links with the US what are the chances of a loan or even signing a couple?

Maybe your buddy yates should go play in a america the standard is that ***** over there he might make a tackle a match.

Mc Eveley, left back, been released from Swindon, might favour a return further North. Also John-Joe O'Toole won't fancy playing in the Conference next year with Bristol Rovers. Both would be a decent shout.

McEveley could be a decent option, has had a decent career so far and can play centre half as well as left back

Anthony Gardener and Billy Painter were seen at thee Vale last thursday.

Paynter is a huge risk. Been in shocking form and isn't fit, maybe a Micky Adams pre season could sort him out though. Same with Gardner he's a very good player but fitness is a big risk.
