Season 2013/14 - thoughts and memories

Amongst all this doubt, doom, gloom and pessimism I think it's worth remembering the full picture of this season. If right now is our lowest point, then I think we can take that as a positive.

We've never been in the picture for relegation, but let's not forget the highlights of the season;

Good opener against Brentford.

Excellent game v Bradford

Near full-house and a good effort against Wolves in the warm August sunshine

Last-minute theft at Carlisle

Turning Coventry over in front of another big crowd

The Lines free-kick at Tranmere in front of a good support

Away win 3-0 at Crawley

Beating Walsall AT Walsall

Reaching the fourth round of the FA Cup

I've hardly seen a dull game this season, and if I have....well, that happens in all leagues.

Until the turn of the year, I genuinely felt we could sneak the sixth spot as we looked useful all over the park.

I really hope that the die-hards and others see the bigger picture rather than the post-Xmas picture and stay behind the club. Whoever is manager next season and whoever plays for us will need us there in the ground cheering them on, not sulking at home because we've had our day in the sun for now!

Up the Vale!

I did go to Shrewsbury, but put that into perspective.

Remember the Dean Glover days ? Or the home defeat to Macc in the FA Cup? Or the Chasetown nightmare? Or Lee Sinnott's reign?

We may not be always entertaining, but I've really enjoyed this season and last.

Highlight for me was the three consecutive Saturdays where beat three of our local rivals to complete the enemy trilogy. 3-1 victory over Shrewsbury with Hugill's clincher being one of the moments of the season, 2-1 obligatory victory at Crewe followed by victory, at last, at Walsall with the most complete performance I've seen this season.

Same for me.
