F A Cup 4th Round Draw

Winnable, if tough game at home. Chance of progression, not bad draw for me. We could quite easily be in the draw for the 5thround in a few weeks time. Chance for micky to show Brighton what they have been missing too

I'd side with your thoughts on this--a possible 5th round and additional revenue? Only disappointment is likely to be the relatively small amount of traveling opposition fans--so we need to get behind the lads and swell the crowd numbers!

Man city, Bolton, Bristol, Stevenage, Everton, Kidderminster, Mac, sheff wed, hull, Cardiff, Norwich, Fulham, Rochdale, Southampton, Southend, stoke, palace, Wigan, Yeovil, arsenal, Forrest, utd, City, Liverpool, Sunderland, are all either bigger sides, closer or have a better chance of progressing. Even if a couple are debatable, there are still a good number.

I'd disagree that any of Hull, Norwich/ Fulham, Southampton, Palace, Wigan (did you see their home attendance yesterday?) or Yeovil would bring substantially more fans than Brighton (or attract more home fans) and, with at least the premiership teams, most would decrease our chances of progressing far more than Brighton would.

Our priority is money....end of.

I disagree. The priority is doing as well as we can in any competition. Surely that's the point of Vale existing?

The priority is money so we can compete in competitions such as League 1. Our chairman is running out of money to sustain the level we are at now. He needs help and a bumper tie would have allowed that.

Let's win today eh!

Your reservation was all too prophetic! I couldn't make the game, but following it on-line I suspect we were lucky to get the draw. They hit the post twice and had no less than 15 attempts on goal (against our 4!!) A much better effort clearly required for the replay or else we ain't gonna be playing in the fourth round!

I attended today- really disappointed with Vale's defensive approach- slack, inviting and if being honest, half hearted.

The only way to win this tie will be to fight fire with fire- Plymouth will gazump Vale if Vale go there to sit back and defend. Plymouth today really did make vale look the lower standard outfit.

15 attempts from Plymouth and at least seven were very very close. Notice as soon as Chivers was introduced for Duffy everything fell apart- Chivers is far too slow.

Good assessment of the match. We need to tighten up at Home Park, thought there defense was suspect when under pressure, just like ours, the only positive is that Plymouth do get pretty good gates.

It might help if we have more than 2 midfielders on the pitch when we are actually winning a game.

Awful draw against a strong team who play miles away and won't bring in much money. Worst draw possible.

Unless you count Plymouth of course (?). However......

Any home draw is ok, and they are a big well-supported side. Note their crowd in the 3rd round v Reading - over 20,000 and the 5th best of the day, far bigger than Stoke and Southampton.

You really think this is the worst draw possible, I am astonished when we could have got something like MK Dons or Peterborough away (if they win replays), Bolton away, Bournemouth or Burton away, Stevenage away, Watford away if they beat Bristol City - just a few that are far worse.

Brighton will bring well over 1,000 fans, maybe 2,000 IF we win our replay against Plymouth (which I have a feeling we will).

At least we have lasted longer in the FA Cup than Manchester United, West ham or Aston Villa.
