Wingers

Not a massive deal but just a suggestion - does anyone else feel it's time we switched the wingers over, side wise. Mohammed did a lot of things right when taking a man on and going to the byline. However as soon as he got there because he was on his weaker foot he either put a weak ball into the box or tried to turn around and ended up loosing the ball.

Furthermore, JMW - although defensively an immensely improved player - isn't cutting inside as much. This means that he plays the ball back to Yates to deliver the cross. Although allowing a full back to put a cross in from time to time is good because it mixes up the play, any defender will tell you that it is easy to defend a deep inswinging cross, as opposed to a hard, low ball played in from the byline. Defenders generally hate this because it means they are running towards their own goal, which can cause anything.

Although I love seeing wingers cut inside and take a shot as we did last season it hasn't really happened yet so I'd rather we went back to basics a little bit and allowed JMW, Mo, or whoever to be able to cross the ball on their strongest side - thus feeding the Pope and Hughesy more than we have been doing.

Just as a side note too: does anybody else feel like JMW is starting to suffer from 'Rob Taylor Syndrome'? By this I mean where both players used to run at - and successfully beat - an opposing full back, they now hesitate when running with the ball and without it don't make as many runs in behind the full backs (prefering to stand on the touchline for some reason). I wonder if this is something the coaching staff have told them or whether it is a confidence thing?

No. Keep playing them in their proper positions.

Either side is their position. It's just one side they get more shots away and the other they get more crosses in. How many shots have they taken in the past 4 games? I can't count many...

Agreed. I am baffled by the continued selection on their wrong foot.

If they are asked to play as wingers then left footer on the left wing etc. If playing inside forward then its fine the other way around if effective. Adams has always played this way, whether with JMW, Mohammed, rigg or dodds. The only player who he seems to favour playing on his natural side is rob taylor.
