I spoke to Liam with PeteT a couple of weeks ago he was a very nice bloke and he was not grossly overweight....He was hoping for a contract and he was prepared to work for one, he liked our set-up and facilities etc. And he was very grateful to the Club for allowing to use our facilities over the Summer after 16 months out of the game with injury.......Typical comments on here from the usual crowd including a 'Stokie'.

IMHO were he went wrong was when his passport problems occured at Manchester Airport he should have changed his flight from Ryanair to Aer Lingus who do NOT require passport identification OR drove to Holyhead and caught the Ferry and joined the Squad.......Maybe him not showing effort on his part was the reason Vale got rid.......

Maybe he just isn't good enough, looked over weight and below average to me. Glad he won't be joining. Might come good for someone in league 2, depends if he can get fit and not get injured. We already have much better.

Will he come back next pre season

I've always said that a Dickinson back to how he was would be an asset not how he is,others have said it would be christmas before he was anything like fit so he would need continuous game time well he wouldn't get it with us so i reckon a spell in non league, maybe stockport, would be the best solution. Now if you said Ryan Dickinson then i'd say YESSSSS.

Not needed at all, pope, hughes, tomlin and williamson are a fantastic four to have and dodds offers versatility to the front line aswell. Dickinson would have been wasted money. Looking forward to seeing how we beef up our defence!

Interesting that I got -4 and you got +1 for the same comment. Mr popularity it seems

From Mickys comments, it seems the sensible decision. How many times in the past have we wasted a wage on a player who can only manage 20 games a season. We may not be in financial dire straights, but clearly any excess transfer/wage funds should be spent in central defence rather than up front where we have an embarrassment of riches. I wish Liam all the best but there's no sentiment in football and Smurf and Micky have to do what's right for Port Vale which in my opinion, they have.

Spot on. When resources are finite, which ours are, then we have to be very careful on how we spend them. Maybe worth taking a gamble on a top top players but not worth it for someone who would probably be our 5th choice striker.

Jason Koumas is training with Tranmere, boss Ronnie Moore has confirmed.

The Wales international midfielder began his career at Prenton Park before going on to play for the likes of West Brom, Cardiff and Wigan.

But the 33-year-old has been without a club since his last professional appearance for Cardiff in their play-off semi-final defeat to Reading in May 2011.

Moore confirmed on Tuesday that Koumas' love for the game has been rekindled and he will be assessed in the coming weeks.

"We got a phone call from his agent asking if we'd have a look at him," Moore told the club's official website. "He fell out of love with the game, but he's back in love with it and he wants to come back.

"We said to bring him in and we've got sports science guys working with us now who will monitor his fitness.

"In two or three weeks time when he's fit and can play then who knows what might happen, but at the present time he's here to train and we'll have a look at him.

"It was supposed to be top secret, but nothing lasts too long."

Very true, but good luck to the lad. he's one hell off a big unit and if he can get fit he'll be an asset to somebody

And therein lies the problem because he has never been a big unit. He has been a tall, lean, gangly striker who scored goals.

Now he has lost his way with his fitness.

Injuries or not, there is no way he should have piled on all those pounds. He hasnt looked after himself.
