Blown away?

In my opinion [for what its worth] I think Mr Smurf simply chose the wrong words, perhaps through excitement or inexperience.....

There has been a transformation and compared to previous pre seasons it is quite an impressive one..

Pitch improvements, ground improvements, new shop, new ticket office, online ticketing, new sponsor etc etc etc all in the space of a few weeks and all pretty much as promised. Compared with developments over previous pre seasons its quite an achievement and a very progressive step [can anyone imagine mold achieving any of the above?] all in all he seems to do exactly what he says he will and for an old campaigner like myself thats what could possibly blow me away.... its a little too early to say if he will continue in the same way but I have seen nothing to suggest he will faulter in his "mission" and hopefully his enthusiasm exuberance and excitement will continue

Is this a positive post?....... nah cant be

Have you had a bang on the head with a coconut youth? Glad to see that a sense of perspective is present on OVF. We are indeed in a better place than we have been for 15 years. We will not win this league, however, 5th from bottom is progress no matter whether it would feel like that.......

ive just seen that Shrewsbury only have a squad of 13 players at the minute and their only tranfer target decided to go to Hartlepool... We really shouldnt be worring about lack of signings.. There is plenty of time and no doubt we will dip into the loan market..

The shirt issue needs sorting though as it has gone on for too long and should have been released weeks ago.

I know what Hagrid means re the signings. Most of us who are over the age of mid twenties(and have followed Vale since childhood) I'd imagine were lucky enough to see the Rudge sides so have more comparison but lets be honest after the V2001 years I personally never thought we'd see too many what I'd call class players pull on a Vale shirt(certainly in the 4th tier anyway).

Whatever you thoughts on Lee Hughes as a footballer he's a class act in the penalty area, even at 36 in the lower leagues. For me his stint in prison probably cost him a longer career in the Premiership, as he was in his prime when he went inside. Darren Purse too also perhaps a tad past his best when he played for us spent most of his career in the Championship at least.

For signings like that alone you have to praise Smurf and Wildes(before) so far plus measures and work that has been implemented off the pitch. Blown away is perhaps a bit strong, but it is certainly a big thumbs up for me at least so far!

Steady progress is best.

If we continue to improve in the manner we have over the last 12 months, as a club and a team, then we definitely have a good few years ahead of us.

Let's just say I missed the glory days of Rudgey.

The vale have been with me since 1958... there have been ups and downs and almost over and done withs... things have improved dramatically over the past year.... like I said above, Im an old campaigner, signing messi and beckham wouldnt blow me away but 11 anybodies wearing the shirt and playing like they did at the start of last season will impress me... hit the ground running and show them we mean business... that will impress me.... just my opinion of course

Better standard of signings?? We were signing better players under Horton we no money. But now with a bit of money in league 1 we are signings two 30 year old wingers from ****ing Cheltenham and Southend. People need to wake up if we dont make 3 to 4 quality signings then bye bye league 1.

We were in the Championship under Horton and he sped £1milliin!! I would hope they were better quality players!

Two 30 year old wingers?! Who are they? You can't be referring to the 28 year old Mohammed, because he's errr...28.

It does make the point that we are not necessarily signing better players than we ever have though.

Neil McKenzie, Chris Slater, Kyle Perry, Tommy Fraser

Or

Lee Hughes, Danny Jones, Gavin Tomlin, Chris Robertson
