Chilvers started slowly but is now doing very well. Jones is a good left back and could easily carry on at League 1 level - his forward running and dangerous long range shots have been recognised by opponents who are countering him. Hughes is our top scorer recently and the issue is to fit him in to the team. Purse did very well to start with and is clearly a higher level player, but can't play twice weekly and needs a midfielder to take the ball off him. Griffith was excellent against Bradford in terms of the physicality needed to stop them, but as we know he needs a person to take the ball off him short as well. Birchall was an obvious available addition who may now be useful. Andrew is an asset in front play, but not a goal scorer. Overall, these players have deepened and strengthened the squad.

 

So how come we have been so poor recently ?

Yesterday Chilvers Purse Griffiths were terrible

Had it not been so bad Birchall would never have been seen

Unless you get balls into the box then there is no point playing Hughes at all

I think any manager who brings on Calvin Andrew when we need a goal rather than Dodds or Williamson, who have about 16 goals between them this season I might add, is really asking to be sacked.

It's a tough ask for a team to gain promotion when it's supporters are fighting between themselves on whether it's manager should remain.

 

Poor performances and a real negative atmosphere about the place. A vicious circle..

 

The management and players really need to show their metal now.

Anyways here's some good news. Stoke's league form this year. Won 1 drawn 1 lost 7. Makes our blip (W1 D2 L4) look insignificant. Stoke for the Championship.
