Balance of the side.

Torquay Valiant

Recommended Posts

Looking over the last few games and the balance seems to be totally wrong.

You have Loft & Burge, both supurb players but, it seems to me, like to much time on the ball. The ball needs to be played a lot quicker as earlier in the season.

As i see it you cannot play both in the middle you need someone to complement them. I know MA doesn't like Morsey but i like the dirty little **** and his distribution is good as well. OK he needed to learn a lesson after Rochdale but i think he should be back in the side to give balance & stability. Also Loft & Burge are left peggers and the play continually flows from left to right, when they switch the ball the pace slows.

With Vincent going off the pace maybe you could push Loft wider (allowing him to inter change with Jones) and then bring Morsey in to balance it up a bit.

Its just a thought.

Up front!!!!!!! I thought Dodds was doing a good job, he's got a lot of mobility & compliments Pope well. If you need an injection late on Williamson had Pace andhas been successful so far. I'm not saying Hughes is not a success but i think he tends to push up just a bit to far so we miss out on the ball falling back as Dodds seemed to pick up a lot of second balls around the box.

There you have it.

i agree with all this too. What worries me is we'll keep the smae side again against Oxford - they may not be the best defensively but stong across the middle - could get overrun yet again. Here's hoping MA does the right thing and also the players give another 10%.

for gods sake get off his back...we will get promoted just leave it to him NO ONE is as qualified to pick football teams against the experience this guy has got lets leave it to Micky all teams have blips Northampton and Burton will soon have theirs

If someone had said we would be in this position 12-18mths ago we would have snapped their hands off just be glad we aren't supporters of Plymouth, Wolves, Luton, PORTSMOUTH!!! who are going through torrid times at the moment instead of slagging off our tacticly inept manager!! alledgedly go and visit the above teams messageboards and just read how desperate their fans are!!

I would rather be where we are to where they are anyday!!

What's wrong with fans discussing teams/tactics/formations? I've done it for as long as I remember as football fan, about Vale, the England national team etc. We all have out views on what we think is the strongest 11 and a forum such as this is a place to discuss them, surely!

I agree with the midfield problems, and we are not creating enough for the forwards as things stand, and in my opinion this is the main problem. Also its not about who is partnering Pope up front it's simply about him having one of those runs, I just wish the ball had hit Popey on the **** at Torquay and not Andrews as I just think he needs a goal. Popey has had chances that prior to this mini run would have gone in.

It' will not happen but my team for Saturday would be -

--------Neal-------

Yates-Duffy-Purse-Lofty

Shuker-Morsy-Burge-Jones

----Hughes--Pope

Bringing Doddsy on after 60 mins for Hughes, as I dont think doddsy is 100% match sharp yet to give hime more than 30 mins or so.

I also think that both wingers are crying out for a rest, prior to this season JMW has only ever played at most about 25 games and alot of season he has played alot less, this season he has played about 38.

The same with Vincent, the most he has played is about 37 he has played 36 already this season.

Personally a rest for a couple of weeks will make them fresher for the final run in.

No ones slagging him off, its just common knowledge that things need changing! Hopefully he will see that and have a look at it because we cant carry on playing them 2 on wings and expect to win games! offer nothing going back, and at the minute offer nothing going forward
