Are the clubs Saunders has been with in any worse a situation than when he left? Awful decision to appoint, as well as being just bizarre. Though isn't their chairman a Liverpool fan? Deserves a bit of stick if that was the selection criteria! Wolves could have attracted a very good manager.

On another thread a very patient and helpful poster (jacko) has given the average number of supporters teams brought this season. I think it was about 350 (cant remember exactly). This should easily double next season, and may treble.

 

If it doubles thats an extra 350 x £15 (average price with concessions) which is 350 x 15 x 23 = just over £120,000 ADDITIONAL income, and if it trebles about a quarter of a million. That is in addition to any increase in our own home support, and shows the value of getting out of the accursed League 2 and its Barnets, Dagenhams, Morecambes, Accringtons and the rest. No disrespect to those teams who have beaten us quite often and often have had good managers and fine players, but don't bring any support with them when they visit.

Examples - - Fleetwood brought 157 fans to Vale Park, Vale took 1139 to Fleetwood (night match)

- Dagenham brought 37 fans to Vale Park, Vale took 256 to Dagenham

- Morecambe brought 103 fans to Vale Park, Vale took 641 to Morecambe

- Torquay brought 139 fans to vale Park, Vale took 670 to Torquay

 

Incidentally, Vale failed to beat ANY of those 4 at home, so perhaps a bigger away support brings out a better home performance ?

Here's a little test (please dont look it up, only cheating yoursl;ef as there is no prize !) - which 2 teams brought more fans to vale Park for league games than Vale took to the away fixture - a small clue is that the reason they brought more is because when the Vale Park matches came round there was 'more to play for' than when Vale were away earlier in the season.

 

Off the top of my head i would say plymouth, sarfend.
