I have to agree with that, Ray Walker and Roobie Earl were Vales best midfield duo in the last 40 years, they would be the central midfield 2 in my all time Vale XI.

 

Wellens would be a class signing though if it were true. Birchall, Purse, Hughes and Wellens? All signed up in January, I'm going to get a nose bleed with all this excitement!

Wellens cost Leicester City £1.2 million when he signed for them in 2009 and was their player of the year in 2011. Apparently he went to Ipswich on loan to get fit, McCarthey still wants him. You could blindfold him and tie his ankles together and he would still be the best midfielder in this division:D

Give him time, they took quite a while to reach their peak and at a similar point in their careers there wouldn`t be much in it.

We need to build a team that is comfortable in L1, the owners do not want a relegation, nor do we. We cannot sign every player that is mentioned, other clubs are chasing them as well. Enjoy the speculation, it makes a welcome change.
