Taylor and Yates

Thought these two deserved a mention for their great performances yesterday. Both did what they had to do well and Yates is a really good full back at this level and doesn't deserve the stick he gets. Another mention for JMW, happy that he got his goal to shut up the abusers on twitter (bang out of order, you know who you are, are you really vale fans?) should Taylor and Yates start next week? I think so

Why was this moved? It wasn't a thread for who should start next week it wa a thread to praise the performance of our full backs yesterday. :(

Yeah they were both really good Yates's problem is when he comes up against a pacey winger but I reckon he's improved a lot from last season maybe because of the competition from Duffy

I'm not so sure I think Duffy will be back in against gillingham at right back and Yates moved to left back. Yates has been very consistent though, more of the same please from taylor, looked brilliant yesterday.

Thought both full backs were immense, was so pleased to see Taylor have a good game, and Yates prove why he is more than capable of keeping the RB position. I thought the centre two were shaky at first but as the game went on they too were very sound - although that's to be expected when they haven't really played together before.

He lives ( or used to ) up here does that Yates lad.....His dad is very pleasant and even though i know both his parents and he will know me i dont let on..... goes back years

Maybe I haven't seen him enough to judge but whenever I've seen Duffy I've not been impressed with him when defending or attacking....

Duffy far superior defender. Vocal and good at organising, however his distribution is poor and he had a shocker against Fleetwood.

I think Yates is a very steady full back, not brilliant but more than adequate at our level, Taylor blows hot and cold more than any other player I've seen!!

Not a fan of taylor at all, and i really wasnt a fan of yates at right back before. He has had a great run at left back, and played really well at right back yesturday. Taylor had his best game of the season, long may it continue!!

Imo,Duffy is a better defender buy Yates is better going forward.When we are playing lesser teams like Plymouth our defensive qualities will not be tested and it's an unfair comparison.I think Micky will bring Duffy back against Gillingham and move Yates to left back.Can't see him playing Rob Taylor against much stronger opposition.

Yates was decent and didn't do nothing wrong.

 

First half Taylor got caught out a few times and have the ball away a few times unneeded.

 

Taylor put a great ball into the box for the pope header and I will give it Taylor, he does put a good delivery into the box.

 

To be fair though second half none of them had a thing to do and didn't have to mark a winger.

 

Don't get carried away with Taylor not making a mistake when he didn't have to defend all second half. Like I say he had a stready game which you'd expect when not having to mark anyone.

 

We still need an out and out specialist left back without doubt.
