The article seems to think a Premier League club will take a punt. If so, £500K is nothing. If it's Championship or high end league 1 clubs going in for him, they'll be the ones offerring £100K+. Look at the sort of money Powell and Westwood went for from Crewe for one good season in League 2.

Wasnt le fondre sold when coming to the end of his contract..hence the low price.

And im defo not deluded....theres silly prices around all the time...plus hes under contract. Abt time we did well out of a transfer.

How about John Rooney, played in the championship and MLS. Was very impressive at Macc and is versitile, can play in either a strikers role, attacking midfield position or on the wing.

Adam Le Fondre was sold for 350k, I can't see us getting 500k for Pope if Vale chose to let him go. But saying that why would we let him go for peanuts?

D & R have just got £500k for this unknown who only made 20 appearances for them so you never know.

Why is 500K for Pope a lot of money when some striker I've never heard of has gone from the Daggers to Peterborough for 500K as an initial fee?

If an offer came in for 500k the club would be foolish to turn it down,we have just come out of admin and 250k of that would help the finances and Adams would have the other 250k to seriously strengthen the side not only for the remainder of this season but for next as well.

As I always say its what is he worth to us not what he is worth to the transfer market. 500k is a lot of money and we could get a number of decent players with that kind of money (assuming that it goes back into the club)

There is no definitive answer to this question. I have always believed that every player has his price. If MA considered that a better player could be signed for a lesser fee then a transfer makes good sense.

I would be very sorry to see Tom Pope leave because it is clear that he has more loyalty to the Vale than other players because he is a Vale fan. This will always mean that he is willing to work that extra bit harder for the cause.

To those who say that he has only played well for 1/2 a season I say rubbish. Last year he was played as secondary striker this year (the Chesterfield game apart) he is the main man.

Darren Carter is another experienced midfielder and i am sure that Sproson is his agent.

 

As for Pope,i have no doubt that some offers will more than likely come in for him as clubs this time of year are desperate for an in form goal scorer,as for a price i guess some will pay what it takes within reason,personally i think 350k would get him(i am not saying that is what he is worth though,as i am sure we would all want 1m but that wont happen).
