Tom Pope, striker, Port Vale, £500k

No doubt a left-field selection, but late bloomer Pope is finally living up to his potential under Micky Adams at Port Vale having flattered to deceive at both Crewe an Rotherham.

The powerfully built Pope, 27, has always show flashes of brilliance to suggest he could play at a higher level, but this season he has added consistency and, more importantly, goals to his game, putting off-field problems including a six-month suspended prison sentence for affray in 2009 behind him.

Pope is not going to be the first name on any top flight shopping list, but if any Premier League manager is looking to pick up a bargain from the lower leagues they could do a lot worse than taking a punt on the 6ft3in striker, who tops the League Two goalscoring charts with 19 goals.

Half a million!!! Billy Bell would have snapped anyone's hand off for that sort of money but would our current owners,if it came to the crunch?

Billy Bratt would have snapped anyone's hand off for a pint and 2 packets of crisps and the promise of investment in 2-3 weeks time!!!

you've picked that garbage out of the daily pail, any club sniffing round would have to shell out 3 times that ammount, if a deal was only half likely.

I seriously doubt that! There aren't many, if any league two clubs who'd turn down half a million for any player

Bit of perspective here. Le Fondre consisitantly scored over 20 goals in league two for a number of years until he eventually got picked up for only 350k. Pope has done it for half a season and were expecting some big prem club come in and spend mega bucks. Don't think its going to happen.

It's not- people on here are utterly deluded. We won't get any more than half a mil & of course he'd be sold if a bid of that size came in
