His contract is up in the summer so I doubt anybody will offer us enough to make selling him in January worth while. We might as well keep him until the summer and hope he can guide us to promotion even if he then left on a free transfer.

Trust me them lions in south London are lurking, Tom gets 1k plus goal bonus at vale, vale fan or not your football career is a short 1, treble his money and set himself up!!!

Everyone has a 'price' and the way he's knocking them into the net this season, there's bound to be a few clubs sitting up and taking notice! Let's hope Mr. Wildes has pockets deep enough to ensure that Tom stays.

Don't blame some fans for being worried because there seems to be no loyalty left in football!

 

I think Tom Pope is different though. He's a cut above, a true vale fan and has the chance to firmly cement himself as a Vale legend if he stays. I think he will stay and climb the leagues with the club he loves.

Surely it would be financial suicide for Pope to leave now if he waits till the summer he can demand a much bigger signing on fee for himself as "A N Other FC" would be saving on the fee that vale would be getting. Thus being the case no vale fan would begrudge popey a better contract after he has got us promotion (hopefully). The only loser is the club who wont get a fee but instead they could hopefully be in a higher league.

At his age he maybe has 2/3 more contracts left, I personally would not blame him if he left to join a club on a 3 year deal with a massive pay rise, he has a family to support now.

 

I am confident that we will soon offer nim a much improved contract at Vale

Remember Andy Jones and Leon Constantine - both left - Both High scorers but their careers were never the same after leaving the Vale .

 

Message to the New Owners - You will get more people in Vale Park if you Keep the likes of Mr Pope than if you keep selling.

If we get promotion I suspect he would cost a lot less to keep on a correct salary than to pay for some old hasbeen on a similar contract.

AND Mr Pope will always try harder.

Keep selling ? They have only had the club for a day but yes keep the pope at all costs
