The left / Right back position is the easiest position on the park for someone to slot into. Loft had never played there in his life and he adapted fine. Taylor on the other had has played in that role many times over the years and is still garbage so imo the fact that people are sayin he's playing bad because hes at left back is a smoke screen for how woeful Rob Taylor is as a player

I think you have forgotten john nicholson who was another exceptional centre half he played with.Roy played in all 3 positions and was immense in all of them.As a after thought sage what would your all time best vale team be that you have seen.

I really wanted to argue the case for Darren Hughes, so I went stat hunting on the ever reliable Wiki.

 

Although Hughes would still be my favourite, I have to concede that Tankard was probably the best.

I agree - we're still looking. Darren Hughes followed by Tankard rather spoiled us, as they were both really good (with Tankard having the edge) but we've paid for it since with a whole sequence of pretty mediocre performers. Has to be one of Micky's priorities even though Lofty has done well since filling in.

Not sure what has happened to Rob Taylor, but he seems to have lost his pace and the confidence to run at anyone.

 

He is poor defensively and coupled with the above seems poor going forward. As soon as Loft came on at Left back on saturday we seemed a lot stronger at the back.

I said that Collins wasn't ripping up any trees at Barnsley or Shrewsbury,in my eyes that is true.Ex players dont always play like they did when they were at the club first time around,that is also true imo.

 

I do most certainly agree that he was very good for us at this level,i just dont always like to see players come back(the legend Andy Jones sadly proved this to me)

I hope you are right because of all the players we've had recently he has been the most adaptable at being able to give a decent performance in 2 positions. In fact IMHO full back is his best position quite pacey can defend and attack

I totally agree with and i wont moan my bag off if he does come back,i just hope he is the same player should he come back,if you know what i mean,imo it would be nice to see who else we could aim for though if we do have a little money.

The shrews fans like him and he's enjoying his football there so is expect him to sign for them.
