Jacko will love you RobF....tut tut.....:shifty:

Why? I'm sure Jacko will agree with my rather broad statement that, as a businessman, Ashley bought into Newcastle when it wasn't on top of its game and despite still being controversial, he has arguably had an impact in restoring some of its greatness. Can't see anything wrong with that statement

He was born and brought up in Burnham, Buckinghamshire and went to the rather posh Burnham Grammar School.

Those of us who live in Buckinghamshire (i.e. me) will tell you that even though it borders Slough, Burnham is one of the most affluent areas of Buckinghamshire.

And calling people from there "Cockneys" is about as accurate as calling people from Stoke "scousers"...

Rob

Aylesbury

Bucks

Buckinghamshire is a lovely area Rob, been camping a few times there mate.

My family and I have been in Aylesbury for three years now, in a lovely spot overlooking the canal. Before anyone thinks I'm rolling in it, it was a financial decision as West London was simply too expensive to buy a house in. And Aylesbury is considerably less "posh" than Burnham... well, it is now I live here...

They used to do that to me all the time when I lived in Leicester. I'm from Bradwell.

Incidentally, wasn't the father/son thing done by Robert Maxwell and his son back in the 80s when they tried to merge Oxford and Reading? Didn't they hold the chairmanships of both clubs?

Could be history repeating itself. Toon play in black and white as well. :shifty:

I do agree. Newcastle were on the verge of going down the tubes when Ashley came in. They're now playing in Europe.

Surely though if big players like the Ashleys are interested then they would have stumped up some cash by now

The reason they've got money, is because they stop, look and think first.

People take longer than this buying a house. It's not that simple.
