I like the sheriff as someone to progress, and on his post Stockport interview he was saying how much big jayden was helping him in training- this is just what we need in our setup - we need to give these youngsters time

Vale fans and giving players time, now we know that doesn't work 😉

I'm undecided on Garrity which seems sad given his 4 years here , 2 years with his persistent niggles , risky ?

Didn't like his body language at times and his hissy fit against Bradford in the promotion crunch game.

I know this is totally contradictory but if he signs then ok good, if not he leaves with head held high and we seek a replacement. Genuinely can't make my mind up. He's played 54 league games out of 92.

So we’ll get a year out of his 2 year deal maybe.

Yeah the bg situation is a tricky one. He has been a really good ringleader here, but to me, something was deffo a bit "off" with him last season. But if JB thinks 2 years then goodo. A fit bg is a force to be reckoned with

Sheriff as I’ve said before if permanent I’m ok if on loan I’m not.

Ultimately he’s under 21 so don’t count to the squad player numbers and if it’s a low fee and coming in to try and develop and sell on I’m all for it, there is potential there and he’s young. L2 might help with that as well.

If he’s coming in as an expected starter then I’m worried but as a low risk project where if it works out we could make decent money in a couple of years or at worst it doesn’t work out and hasn’t cost us much then fair enough.

I'm not looking to trade insults or insult you. Just pointing out the argument to sign a local player everybody knows about comes across as obvious and lazy. Immediately after your post we have somebody calling for the return of Nathan Smith! That's what I mean by my blunt, flippant 'deaf or blind' remark - it's a figure of speech referencing the kinds of transfers many others are suggesting.

My general experience of working with people and supporters within an industry very closely related to football, and talking to other fans is that most people who aren't scouts, have the following football knowledge in the main:

- Watching their own clubs

- Knowledge of their closest rivals

- Watching the big teams on TV

There are not as many people who spend time watching other teams in their league or taking much of an interest in other leagues around them. There just isn't time for the average person. It's what scouts are for. It's why you see fans default to wanting somebody with a past link to their club to return to be a manager, to sign for them as a player, or own the club. It just shows they don't actually know very much. Big club fans talk about wanting targets for their clubs just because they've got good stats and potential on FC26 or FM26, etc. It's lazy.

But you're absolutely right, Vale should sign good players from any club they can. But signing Lowe and Tezgel is unrealistic and not just because they are from Stoke. Part of it, but as players developing they are both going to be looking for L1 football next season. It's probably more realistic we got Baylee Dipepa on loan instead, considering he was about to go to Shrewsbury before he suffered a season ending injury. But I don't think we get him either.

When I see people talk about Abdul Abdulmalik or Harrison Male, Matt Rush etc, they seem like more realistic targets for us off name and stature alone; but I don't know if they are any good (outside of some stats). I can believe it when somebody like @darren1810 talks about these players because I believe he spends time watching more football than just Vale. But when it comes to some other people (even FLW articles), I don't really have the confidence they know what they are talking about and they are just being lazy looking up stats and thinking some G/A stats make a player a good fit for the club.

There's so much waffle and "Whataboutery" in that post.

IMHO Nathan Lowe is a player Vale should be interested in because he has scored goals, particularly in Lge 2 and Vale desperately need goal scorers next season, it's absolutely nothing to do with locality or who he plays for now or has played for in the past.

Whether he would come to Vale, if Brady wants him, is a the first question to answer.

Vale should be trying to sign good players from higher Lge's and non-league, aim high and likely finish high.  Look for non-league players who've been Players' player or Fans' player of the season as those accolades are nearly always a characteristic of a player who will do well at a new club.

I'm not advocating signing former or local players  but if they're good enough, want to come to Vale and we can afford them then why not. There's recent precedent for both such signings making huge contributions at Vale.

There's definitely something there with Sherif. You have to remember he is still very young and I thought he improved as the season wore on. League 2 might be a bit easier for him. If we were to sign him, Brady needs to work on increasing his aggression. He's typical of young players who have come through Premier league academies, where contact is virtually non existent. With his size he should be bullying defenders. Would be absolutely fine as a 4th striker.

You could deffo see the sheriff putting his weight into it more as the season progressed, but good grief what a situation to plop a 19 yr old loanee into- certainly character building 🙈

If he had been banging lots of goals in there would have been no chance of signing him,  should he sign give a chance.

I will back him if he does sign and lets hope that he does find that knack of banging in the goals(it can happen) because that's when money can be made,we all have to remember that the lad is only 19 and IF he does sign then we will be developing our own player and not another teams

Forget it's Stoke, that's irrelevant. And of course we should be interested, is it realistic is a different issue.

The fact that a possible transfer target plays for Stoke or Crewe has always been irrelevant to me but it doesn't seem so to other posters.

Why would a Championship team loan him to Walsall  where he was a roaring success then to facilitate him  progressing to a Championship player by loaning him to two top 10 league one clubs Stockport and Wycombe , only to then 2 years after his initial loan to league 2 , then send him back there ?

It makes absolutely no sense to their plan for him as a young striker hoping to prove he's up to it.

If he went back to League 2 it's one step forwards two steps back for Lowe.

Even if we knock on Mark Robins office door, Lowe is not dropping back to the bottom division. He's proved he can cut the mustard in league one and he's not afraid of being a dirty <ovf censored> as his cowardly elbow in Johnsons face proved. Quite simply he's too good to be poncing around in our league.

Is it realistic?, this issue pertains to a number of posts/transfer suggestions on this thread.

What you are doing is giving your own  perception to how Stoke City FC, Mark Robbins and Nathan Lowe may react to an approach from PVFC when you have no idea, bugger all, zilch of how they may actually react. Much better mindset to actually make the enquiry, ask the questions then proceed or not from there.  FFS We're not trying to sign Joao Pedro.

George Byers signed for Vale in Lge 2 and he was an established Lge 1/Championship player who many thought was too good and out of reach for Vale.

If Lowe does well at Vale it could be one step back and two steps forward, a process may people have to go through to get on in life.

I just don’t see it happening and wouldn’t mind being wrong. I don’t know if Lowe is the type of striker Brady wants. All a bit moot if Brady doesn’t rate his profile. That will matter more than just goals for another team.

I think it’s probably more realistic though we go in for somebody else. I’m not convinced L2 football is where Lowe plays next season (or Tezgel), both will probably be looking for L1 football whether on loan or permanent.
