Match Thread - Port Vale v Burton

Featured Replies

Never been a fan of 3 at the back, it just doesn’t work the way we play it.

Its either get 3 into midfield to stop us being constantly overrun(especially considering how slow our midfield is) or 2 wingers and keep them high and let the opposition worry about us.

I think that’s probably that for this season. Mathematically it’s still possible, but realistically we’re as good as down. I got sucked in again after the Orient game. Four points from Wimbledon and Burton felt like the bare minimum to give us half a chance. One point is just disastrous.

With the so big boys still to come to Vale Park, plus some horrible away trips, it doesn’t exactly make for optimistic reading. I’ll be amazed if we get past 35 points. It’s shaping up to be a long, miserable few months.

What makes it even harder to take is that this is our 150th anniversary season. Instead of celebrating it, this squad is going to be remembered alongside some of the worst we’ve ever had, while those at the top will once again be remembered for poor decisions and acting far too late.

There’s not a huge amount to say about the game itself. Waine and Archer were bright spots, at least. I’d be giving Waine a proper run – I can see him being an asset in League Two. Defensively, though, we look all over the place. Far too easy to play against.

A massive overhaul is needed in the summer. I’d be moving on pretty much everyone who’s out of contract and starting again.

Roll on August.

Is Waine contracted for next season?

Questioning Brady's subs!? The players he took off had run themselves into the ground on a very heavy pitch. They were absolutely the right subs at the time. They had nothing left.

Brown should score & we had the one cleared off the line, small moments again. The game could've been won by either team today as they hit the woodwork twice as well. Draw was about right overall.

Unfortunately draws are absolutely no good to us. Another very average side comes to VP & leaves with points.

Our midfield is nowhere near this level. Ojo & Croasdale as a combo is embarrassing.

Just try & take the small positives folks, that's all we've got now. A great goal from Archer & Waine had a good game. Onto the cup games.

Sensible post. According to most Waine is now irreplaceable because he hit the bar. He was awful second half let’s be honest like most of them. George Hall is quick but end product is lacking. Overall it’s quite clear we aren’t good enough quality wise but at least today we did see 2 goals

More effort than there has been for a while. Two poor defensive teams. Game could have gone either way. Brady’s subs were suspect to say the least.

What have you actually seen to say that Brady should be our manager in League two next season?
