Match Thread - Port Vale v Burton

Featured Replies

I think given the result Tuesday that today was a must win. A point just wasn’t enough.

we don't look fit.

It's the same problem that we had 2 seasons ago under Crosby as we didn't look fit then and the players would run out of energy after 60 minutes.

Why bring Browne on.

Gap may widen next week as involved in FA Cup

Win today woukd have left 7 point gap to Burton with two games in hand

One point from three home games. Was expecting 5 or 6.

Don't management brief players on who are dangers and track them. Beeley was obvious danger as well.as Shade.

Should have won that. Baffling subs to take off Waine and Archer. Poor defending from what I could see from the Hamil.

We’re not staying up so I’m looking for positive changes during game from Brady and not seeing those at all.

Maybe he should have made changes earlier when it was obvious we were being overrun?

Or realised that a point is useless in our position.

Just bad management

still the wrong shape for me but we scored two goals so he got part of it right.

I think sherif will hopefully make a difference coming on instead of brown and we need byers back.

I agree he should have brought grey on earlier but to me it doesn't matter what time you put brown on he isn't going to make us better.

How long a contract has been given? I see some improvements from Moore but not nearly enough to resurrect Port Vale as a decent team.

An 18 month contract

It’s probably your spot in the Hamil but we were lucky to get a point out of that.

But I totally agree with you on Brady. He just watched the opposition, once again, take completely control of the game and he did nothing to combat it

He can stay until the end of the season because the damage is already done but if we want a crack at getting in the top 7 next season then I don’t want him at the helm

Out of  frying pan into the 2nd Div, and with this useless chap it's down down deeper and down, They can stick any chance of a season ticket.

What I took out of that performance…..

Burton, who are god awful, could have scored 5.
When we defend we have no composure whatsoever.
Ojo slows the game down so much. My eyes bleed watching him.
No way on this earth should Ben Waine have been taken off. Obvious sports science crap but he looked the fittest player on the pitch on the eye!!!! They couldn’t handle him.
And finally, we have a very poor man’s Southgate as manager. Reactive not proactive.

I don’t want to hear about it being a good point. 1 point from two home games simply isn’t good enough Jon.
Subs should have been made 15 minutes earlier. And then to take Archer off for Walters was scandalous.

It was basically a Sunday morning pub match on a Sunday morning pitch.

For me we needed an extra body on in midfield, they were running through at will for a good 15-20 minutes, scoring, missing chances and hitting the woodwork twice. If a professional manager thinks no changes are best during this period against another poor side then he in my view Dosent have the in game knowledge to be our manager. Just like Moore.
Bowyer made subs first which says it all

Agree on Brown although I don’t think he did anything particularly wrong today when came on.

Timing wasnt the only issue but he took on the day 3 of our best players off in Archer, Waine and Stockley. To sub Waine after he hit the bar was mental.

I just don’t see what there is to get behind in Brady. He’s spouted all this rubbish about time away from the game and learning different styles when we’re just playing crap negative football with no pattern of play.

Leave it until the season is done, complete reset. Most the squad go, manager goes and start again.

I'm not Browns biggest fan by any stretch, not sure what, if anything he brings to the table but man are Vale fans the lowest of the low, booing your own player when he comes on, congratulations you must be proud of yourselves 👏 👏 👏

Just throwing it out there have you ever thought

the booing was directed at the manager for taking off Waime 🤔

It's certainly wasn't, Waine was clapped off as Brown ran on & his name announced people & not just a few booked, embarrassing

I've come to terms with it now, we're not good enough all over the pitch, needed 9 points  from the last 4 games at least, we got 4. Require 18 miracles to stay up.

Vale looked disjointed, Burton looked much more dangerous.

Archer's goal, Waine and Campbell highlights for me, Campbell looked  very assured on his debut.

Their 2nd goal was another sickener, school boy error to be done so easy on our LHS and give their player so much space and time to cross the ball.
