It's a pity we could not postpone the season ! And start again!

Am I right in saying we have a cover/covers for the pitch? So if the things were being used then the rain wouldn’t have got to the pitch? Are they as damaged as the playing squad? Can nobody be arsed to put them on? Do we even have a full time groundsman anymore? Is anyone capable at this club in any department?

Just been on the field with my dog and when we got back hardly had to dry his paws.

Maybe they didn’t want it played. But there will come a point when people will just stop buying tickets. First we lose every week and now people are throwing money away to not even be go!

Or now…… here’s a thought…… Carols master plan is to keep postponing fixtures so the season can never end and we can not be relegated! I like it. Out of the box thinking!!

In time there will be a book written about this shambolic 150th season.

(Good) Chance creation has been a problem, as much as the clinical finishing. Case in point the lack of a central midfielder contributing, or wide players getting high enough. The formation in many ways made it worse because it relied on the wingbacks to provide even more offensively (and they haven't been great at it), it was predictable and left strikers isolated and not getting the best chances. So it's about patterns of play and we definitely struggled with Moore as we passed side to side, trying to get the ball in from out wide but the wingbacks were often a bit too deep. So the back 5 was very easy to defend against - pin back the wingbacks and you nullify the threat, causing the forwards to come deep or wide to get the ball, when they should be in the bloody box.

So you're right - the system which suits the players is more about how they are playing football, not how they are lining up. It needs variety and options, otherwise you end up with being easy to defend against and relying so much on set pieces (see Arsenal v United)

We’ve made plenty of “good” chances all season.  Quite often the first in a game.  We’re hopeless in front of goal, and although that’s primarily on the forwards, other players have been equally culpable.  It’s been the single biggest factor in our failures the last 2 seasons at this level.

Covers are for light frost protection and are porous to let the grass breathe. Waterproof ones would damage the grass and turn it yellow. On for too long would kill it. Also at half time usually six or more attending too it.

Not rained here for a number of hours now. Pretty damn right awful this has been postponed

Yeah makes very little sense to me. Surely clubs not adequately preparing games to take place should have some kind of punishment taken on.

I honestly don't see a legitimate reason for the game being called off.

Not a barometer as such, but my sodden back lawn is now even more like the Somme today. I got trench foot just walking to the shed earlier.

Have you had knew drainage in lately though?

Its largely down to Wimbledon's location as they don't want clubs calling off last minute, had it been say Burton or Stockport it may well have been held off until 2-3pm.

Madly we are running out of space to fit games in, we've already had to slot the Pizza Cup Game in, Bradford H, Barnsley H, Northampton A, still have to find space for Doncaster A and now Wimbledon at H, the Pizza cup means we have a 50% chance of Stockport A being called off as one of the two of us will be in the Semi Finals, potential for Wycombe A with International postponements, a Vertu Semi Final fixture and if somehow we beat Bristol Rovers Peterborough A would need to be moved.

On top of that we are not in Feb yet and more games may be lost to weather.

Following the postponement of this evening's (27th January) Sky Bet League One clash against AFC Wimbledon, we can now confirm the fixture will be played on Tuesday, 3rd February, with kick-off now at 7pm.

I said earlier that I wouldn't be surprised if we put the Wimbledon game on the 3rd of Febuary given how it's virtually the only Tuesday night slot we have available between now and the end of the season and we have.

Game Off? there must be more holes and gaps in our pitch covers than our midfield on Saturday!

I’m off work that day so can attend that. That’s disappointing.

7pm kickoff is a bit random.

Yeah, I don't understand why it is a 7pm kick off.
