Match Thread: Port Vale v Fleetwood (FAC)

Featured Replies

Funnily enough after the rot of Mooreball I wasn't expecting us to go out and thump Fleetwood 6/0 and for us to prance about Vale Park like Real Madrid.
A good run out for the lads under our new manager. He got a good look at them from the sideline tonight. He got his first win. Small steps but fair play to him and the lads.
Tougher opponents on Tues for us and then onto the real buisness on Saturday.
Our form over the last 8 games, Inc Cup games, isn't actually so bad.
Was good to here some Jon Brady's black and white Army going about tonight. Onwards and upwards.
No moaning from me for tonight but then I really didn't expect us to all of a sudden transform into the best team in the world after 1 game.
Lets see what happens, back the lads, back the Gaffer and back your club

He did seem to get quite annoyed with a few near the end. Suspect it was their decision making at times

So we have a new manager with the same players.

New manager makes a few changes.

We win yet fans are not happy.

So is it -The manager cannot motivate .....

b. The players are not good enough.

C.  Both

Going to put it out there but I thought Faal was decent tonight when he came on!

Agree very good.

Faal was good, had energy, could chase down his man, had a sterling run with the ball to carry it out of trouble, a couple nice passes in attacking movements and clearly making runs calling for the ball crossed into him.

He was better than Stockley today, who struggled to keep pace, and though he won a couple of headers wasn’t able to effect the game in a meaningful way, other than perhaps free up Cole a bit.

Faal did well, the only concern for me was it shifted Cole out wide again, but then we needed those extra numbers to close the midfield a bit. That’s the problem with a 2 in central midfield, easily overrun and played against when opposition are playing with more intent.

I would bet a hundred quid you wouldn't call him a no mark to his face.

The same fans who rather see results and Vale winning instead of having a dig about a player who has probably received abuse from the stands and online. Football clubs have a small but toxic environment and no matter how bad players are or have been there's just no need for abuse.

It's a night of change and new beginnings and I can guarantee most Vale fans will be more happy about the result than a bloody celebration

I listen to the Ale and Vale pod who constantly call players dogshit and get very wound up.

I will take your hundred quid because I would.

Never once have I ever abused him. If he has suffered abuse online then it’s wrong.

You, like many others, miss my point…….

It’s a new start. A new era. And the club needs the fans to connect with these bunch of wasters as players after an abysmal first half of the season.

That little mug, after his goal, thought it be in his best interests to tell the fans he isn’t listening when obviously he has, instead of properly celebrating and building bridges.

The abuse Tolaj got when he left was off the charts from some. For progressing his career.
Shipley has done absolutely nothing since he has been here and all of a sudden thinks he’s prime Ronaldo after a goal to the fans.

Any working class Vale fan wouldn’t accept that and if you are jumping up and down in the Hamil after his goal after he did that, then have a look at yourself.

My whole point, which you and others miss, is that I’m more than happy for senior pros who have been there and done it with us to do what he did.
He has been here 5 minutes, done aboslutely nothing, looked piss poor when he got played, came with a lot of fanfare, and when he puts the ball in the net he decides to do a childish celebration to working class fans who basically haven’t been wrong in that he’s been absolutel dog <ovf censored> for the minimal amount of times he has played.

Happy weekend.
Onto the fourth round.

He's not a no mark, if fans give him stick and he gives it back then tough, you want to see passion from players and when they react you don't like it...well diddums.

I get that. But from my view, he’s been really poor this season, it was only the other week instead of watching vale he was seen at another clubs game.

1st game under the new manager, i just don’t see why you would celebrate like that and what there is to gain from it. I’d understand it and welcome it if he had been giving 100% week in week out but he hasn’t.

Anyway we won and he scored. Hopefully a big club and some valuable money for the club up next

I think that’s because we didn’t need a goal!

The lad fought well and did particularly well to get us up to the half way line in injury time.

We can't escape the fact that Blackpool aside there are very few goals in this team.

Curtis and Croasdale both have 2. Other than that a few have one.

The onus on Cole is huge.

Tolaj is joint 3rd top scorer !!!

We will have a lot of nervy hanging on to do if we make a good fist of trying to stay up because we are unlikely to be coasting in games.

Buckle up.

To be fair I think brady had to bring faal and brown on so he can have a look at them

Yeah, he definitely brought them on to have a good look at them and based on what I saw from both I would keep Mo but send Dajaune back to Derby.

Right.
Here’s my point……

Where has Shipley had stick at Vale Park or even at away games?

He hasn’t.

Mo Faal has. Dare I say he has been treated disgracefully by some in the stadium.

When has Shipley been booed in the ground?
He hasn’t.
So he shouldn’t be a dick to the people paying his wages.

Agree?

I thought it was an awful watch tonight. Started brightly looked sharp but that soon faded, the manager has a huge job on his hands after watching that. It’s fairly evident under a new gaffer that a majority of these players aren’t good enough.
having said that we’re through extra pennies and a potential big tie in the next round.

Was Jesse injured ? If not he didn't make the squad I wonder if he's for the off..........
