Brady wants a team that play for the badge and Mitch always gave me that impression.

That's also what is bizarre about freezing out Paton as well.

As for Mitch, I would have had him over Gabriel in the squad in my opinion.

I think we should just abort january windows from here on out

Also there are still 4 more hours to move Paton onto a Scots club. Which I feel would be a mistake. Just my opinion though

As it stands I’d agree, not because Paton is all that good but because you can never have enough forwards.  I think he knows where the net is and it’s more a case of getting him into the right areas more often.  The problem being Brady will have expectations of his players and maybe thinks Paton possibly won’t fit his system.

That’s what I can’t grasp. I completely understand Brady’s point and agree with it, but he’s cast aside two of our most hardworking and passionate players. In my view both are good enough as well, especially Mitch. He was fantastic last season and end product aside has been decent this year. Like you, I’d have in the squad or starting 11. Hope he can stay fit there and does well

I was against Mitch coming back as I didn't particularly rate him first time around. However, he does always give his all and has contributed. Is he good enough for league 1? Not really. He'll be fine in league 2 but his lack of ability to cross or shoot means he'll never be a player to help take us forward. He's also injured a lot.

I would have released him in the summer anyway, irrelevant of what league we're in. We struggle to score goals and so we need those who are more likely to offer something.

I think it's best for both parties to move on.

Mitch always did appear to give his all to the cause and in the situation we are in we need players who will fight to the end. Even if he is back up to Kyle John at right back.

I think people are basing an opinion on Gabriel based on the Exeter game. Yes, he had a nightmare bit he'd only just come back from injury. He had some terrific games earlier in the season and looked head and shoulders above Mitch ability wise.

Bloody hell man he's a right back. What right backs are known for scoring goals? 😄

(I agree though, his output for final ball often wanting)

I understand your comment but the modern full backs need to be good enough to support the attack.

Forget stats.  Going with what you see with your own eyes on a regular basis, Clarke is a decent defender, a player who does genuinely give 100%, has good skill and reasonable pace, which gets you up the pitch, can head a ball and has a decent throw.  Final ball is an issue but there’s more good than bad in this list.  He’s a top player at League 2 level in my opinion.

Yeah I’ve been watching him for 7 or 8 years or so. I still don’t get the love in for him. I don’t think he’s that great a defender in the our third one v one and gets caught positionally. I agree he can get us up the pitch, but there’s more to being a full back / wing back than that. Final delivery and overall output in the final third has been crap too. Just think he’s been overrated in my opinion.

He did but we were playing with wing backs then. With a flat 4 I just feel Gabriel is a liability defensive wise.

Like Headley, play him higher up and it's different.

Whilst you’re right regards injuries, Gabriel isn’t the most robust player either. Gabriel is probably a better player than Clarke when fit but it remains to be seen if he’s any more reliable fitness wise.

I agree, I'm just being facetious about him scoring goals, not creating them.

What an absolute pile of <ovf censored> that window was!!! Definitely going down with those fantastic players.

Gabriel shouldn't have played if he wasn’t ready. One of the worst performances from a full back I’ve ever witnessed.
