According to Eric Nicolson who writes for The Courier and mainly about St Johnstone the loan move isn't a done deal.

That’s the second manager now that is not feeling Rauri and sent him out on loan.

They both can’t be wrong surely ?

Moore felt him enough to sign him.

I would definitely agree. However, wanting one and getting one are very different.

I can't imagine we will get another loan in as we can't play them all so that would lead to all sort of Moore-esque rotations. So it's gonna have to be a permanent signing.

Jon Brady managing to persuade someone to sign permanently for a club bottom of the division is a tough task.

One intriguing possibility I was thinking of, is perhaps he goes for free agents after the window? Here's the logic:

  • A free agent can either do nothing or play for a club bottom of the table (so it's perhaps easier to get one)
  • We can also (like Marvin Johnson) perhaps agree a short-term deal till the end of the season so there's no massive long-term commitment for either party.
  • There's a chance that on Weds we've further closed the gap (if we can beat Wimbledon) and perhaps (amazingly) by Sunday we may even have managed three wins in a row and really closed it down.
  • If that's the case does a club say five/six points adrift look a better prospect to an experienced free agent than it does now?
  • The downside is that free agents are usually that for a good reason (usually injury) and there isn't a massive pool of decent players, so I guess bringing in a free agent would be a gamble
  • But that said, the last one (Marvin Johnson) was able to come into the team and have an impact, perhaps a free agent striker could too?

A lot of ifs and buts there - but I think it's going to be really difficult to persuade anyone during the window if they have other options (i.e. surely a player is going to opt for the club not in bottom place if they have a choice) so free agents may be an option. A number of players get released today so it would be interesting to see who's out there and perhaps it's not quite time to despair if we don't get someone when the window closes.

Yes a definite possibility or perhaps if we can get a decent quality loan in then brown would be the one I would drop from the squad but he would still be available to come back in if sherif breaks down again.

Yep, I'd agree with that if it has to be a loan!

Exactly Moore must have seen something about Ruari to sign him from Queen's Park in the first place but then he never gave him the chance to prove himself as for the first part of last season we play a few games with him up front on his own and play long ball which is not Ruari's strength at all, then for the 2nd part of the season he sends him out on loan to Dundee United and this season it seems like DM is ready to finally give Ruari the chance and he just starts to play well, starts to form a relationship with Devante and then drops him for the Barnsley game which stops that partnership and as a result it has a massive impact on Devante as well as he never looked like the same player after that. Plus when Ruari was playing after that Barnsley league game DM was playing in the wrong position and as a result I don't think Ruari played up front again.

I really didn't get that Moore decision when he dropped Ruari for the Barnsley game and after that I don't think him and Devante started another league game together. If Moore had kept that partnership going I think they would have scored and assisted each other on a regular basis and IMO we would have been in a better position in the league table rather than where we are now.

IMO he has never been given a proper run in the team to show his ability and what he can do. At least he will go down in history though as the first player to score against Everton's first team at their new stadium albeit in a pre-season friendly as nobody can take that away from him.

It's an old chestnut but under DM you could have scored and been man of the match in your previous game, then lucky to make the bench in the next. As a player you are on a high, looking to build confidence after such a performance, and our old manager whips the rug away from under your feet. Add that to the long list of reasons as to why we are where we are.

I've never really taken to the idea that Darren Moore was "a big name" that would attract quality players or even average players. He may be a thoroughly good egg away from football but one of the game's great thinkers he ain't. Ruari has wasted two years being messed around by Moore, so did Curtis and arguably we'd have got another 8-10 goals out of Tolaj if we'd used him properly.

Throw in his complete inability/unwillingness to save us going down first time round (in an absolutely salvageable position) and there's no doubt he's been a disaster at our club.

Paton has had 2 managers and 18 months, still can’t regularly make the team or even a match day squad. As someone posted here a case of the Campion.

If the managers felt Paton was showing it in training and matches he would be in team.

We took a gamble based on good technique, impressive goal scoring record in lower standard football and Paton’s desire to succeed. It’s not worked out for either party. Good luck to him I hope he goes on to be a success where we he ends up.

I will miss @Robert1888 likes for anything positive about Paton and his laughing faces on anything negative.

Ive never really gotten the hype for Paton. Needs too many touches on the ball, goes missing for long spells, has a tendency to snatch at chances. Can look a bit of a headless chicken at times. That's merely my opinion of course.

Well, Darren Moore was frequently wrong for a start...

So, John Brady is wrong on Rauri then ?

Paton hasn't gone anywhere yet.

Whilst we debate Paton on the other side of the coin I really don't get why Brown has been rated by both managers? Tries hard but is the archetypal headless chicken for me. Very little end product and has missed key chances at times to shoot or pick the right pass.

Unless as others have mentioned it's something in the loan deal, agreement wise he has to be in the 18 if fit?
