I can only assume they are 'welcome' because they fill some criteria on paper - can play a certain position, have a heartbeat.... 

Given the background of the players we have taken on I'd be surprised if many people know much at all about them.

Agree with this.  I think one thing people forget is how many league games has Paton actually started for Vale.  The answer is 16.  He's managed 2 goals in 16 starts in the league. I appreciate that's not particularly decent at 1 in 8, in fact avg-poor.  As a comparison Tolaj managed just 1 league goal in his first 12 starts for us, as neither particularly hit the ground running last season.  He was then moved upfront as a out and out striker, Paton packed off to Scotland for the 2nd half of the season and the rest is history. 

I'm not saying Paton would have done what Tolaj did with more chances and undoubtedly Tolaj is the more complete footballer as he has proved since and at Plymouth but I think it just shows if a player is messed about in and out of the side/not played in their best position what can happen.  

It looks like it's going to be an irrelevance anyway as Paton is probably on his way out but I do believe he's been shafted somewhat(like others) by Moore pressing the button on his roulette wheel team selector.  He seemed to come back fit and hungry this season and deserved the 2 or 3 starts he got in that partnership with Cole then was promptly dropped, scored goals in the cup games then doesn't get starts in the league off the back of them in a side that lacks goals?  Always said there's a player in there somewhere at least at League Two level and I hope he proves it.

Big day for the club and will tell the  support which league those above wish Vale too be in going forwards 

Long way go 20 x 90 plus minutes too play ,anything possible with right attitude and winning mentality players .

Lets make sure sat is the start of a determined better Vale  and those who come in only enhance it .

With the number of loans in our squad we really can only bring in a permanent player unless a loan player is returned and we replace with another? Possibly Brown if we could get a better player? I would have said Gaucci but Amos has been so poor I wouldn’t do that.

I felt we needed a midfielder but with 2 CB’s signed now , I think it’s a clever move and we will push Humphreys in to midfield. I can’t imagine there is a better player available to buy with experience in this window.

I would like to see another ST and winger today.

To bring any more in, we need to see players leave (or you just deregister them and pay them to sit on their arse for 6 months). U21 loans count as a place in the squad. so we are definitely at our allocation now.

Deadline day isn't what it used to be, 7PM is the deadline but a deal sheet can be submitted by then and the rest of the paperwork in by 9PM I believe so as usual might not be morning til we hear of every bit of business going. 

If there's spaces still in the squad then free transfers can still happen for a while yet, as we saw the last couple of seasons. 

Tomorrow night’s opponent’s admin obviously expecting big signings ahead of their game with us.

You say that but Uche's going to Ross County who incidentally wanted Ruari but obviously couldn't get him given how he's going St Johnstone.

That's not the issue. The issue is squad depth is poor. When the likes of Paton, Faal, Shipley and Debrah are who you're turning to, it's not good. Hopefully, these four additions will help us to rotate effectively during a very busy period of fixtures, without a (hopefully) huge drop off.
