It does with some, but the differences in wage tend to get quite obscene to compensate. I'm thinking of the likes of players that joined Birmingham in L1, Fulham in EFL during the early Al Fayed years, Wrexham, Rushden and Diamonds a bit lower down, etc

But generally you're right, people will go for the job with best opportunity and security. Look at the players Chelsea are scooping up. You'd be mad to turn down 9 year guaranteed deals for good money. 🙂

As we had a tall loanee striker in Faal and have brought in a tall loanee striker in Sherif - isn't it really Faal's position that has been taken?

I think it remains to be seen whether Cole will be replaced. We'll know in about 24 hours.

However, Brady reckoned on Sunday we only had two strikers and now we have three - which isn't very many to last the season out - so either there's at least one more targeted or we're gonna be short upfront for the rest of the season. 

 

Big lad and Stockley up top now a bit like paynter played with big Brett Angel all those years ago and pray we can cause some problems in the opposition box.

So if it’s not Brady getting these players in who the hell is it ?, are you even aware of how it works ?, Brady names his targets/type of player, head of recruitment goes out and tries to get the targets reports back as to what it will cost, club says yes or no. Head of recruitment will obviously make Brady aware of who is on the market but to suggest the head of recruitment is telling Brady who he must sign is just a total misunderstanding of how the system works, no manager would work in those circumstances.

of course if you have some inside knowledge about this please enlighten me but I’m guessing not.

Beggars can't be choosers comes to mind. 

I get what you're saying, but we are not one of the first clubs a player looking to L1 will want to move to. In fact we are dead last.

True but not every club will be after the same player. Again look at Burton last Jan, rock bottom pretty much as far behind as us but managed to sign bodvarsson off Bolton on loan. We will still be an attractive proposition in league 2, surely someone not playing in league 1, out of contract in the summer would be up for joining us.

Says a lot about our scouting network. I would put money that these deals have been facilitated by networking done pre season. It doesn't strike you as deals done with a lot of tracking and thought and intent. 

It strikes me as a little bit lazy, perhaps desperate. But if the players turn out good that won't matter. 

On the bright side, we can't loan more than 2 from a single club iirc.
