So by my reckoning if Walsall, Bradford, Wimbledon, Doncaster lose today and we win we are promoted.

If all above lose today and we win with Bradford and Doncaster playing eeachothereven if we lose our next 2 games mathematically we go up in the top 3

No mate how on earth do you work that out ?

Doncaster and Bradford are 1 and 2 behind us.

Already explained about Walsall.

Got to enjoy these kind of days… bit tense but what a game and end of season to look forward to.

I always think back and compare to the awful feeling in my stomach rocking up for a game vs chesterfield which we somehow won 2-1 I think during our darkest days when we were ebbing away as a club and heading for a relegation to non league which I still don’t think we would have recovered from.

So get ya white shirt on and help the team to a win…. Or at the very least a result better than Walsall’s! Probably wise to turn your phone off for 90 mins and focus on supporting loudly would be the best option.

We win today and we’re on 79 points.

If Bradford and Doncaster both lose today, their final points total possibilities would be:

Bradford on 81 and Doncaster on 77 (Bradford win). Only Bradford can catch us.
Bradford on 79 and Doncaster on 78 (draw). Only Bradford can catch us.
Bradford on 78 and Doncaster on 80 (Donny win). Only Donny can catch us.

If Wimbledon fail to win today, their max points are 77. They can’t catch us.

Walsall don’t come into the equation, even if they catch us (which they can whatever happens today), as 3 are promoted.

The maths therefore are:
Vale win.
Bradford lose at Chesterfield.
Donny lose at home to Colchester.
Wimbledon draw or lose at Gillingham.

Ignore the permutations win today and Walsall lose and we re virtually there.

I think winning today is all that counts. Everything else will fall into place if we can achieve this.

Amen to that.  Ignore everything else for now; its just a side show.

Osh,I understand everyone feels edgy but focusing on Vale and getting behind them has worked this season

Fans have been brilliant and need so again today. Forget the first half performances where we've lost(although I know I've brought it up!)...just be the 12th man again

Walsall are not really in the equation. Sky sports just gone through it Walsall can win 15-0 if they want but if Donny and Bradford lose we are promoted today with a win.

Couldn't agree more DF.  If we can take some of the tension out of the situation - what others do we have no control over.  Just stay laser-focused on what we need to do.  As others have said - if we do that and get three wins it doesn't matter what anyone else does.
