Carlisle Utd v Port Vale match thread - 18th April

Hate to disappoint you chaps, but we will NOT be taking it easy on Friday and saving ourselves for the last 3 games, no way. And if we show the same heart and desire as we have done over the last two games then we are going to give you one hell of a game.

Most home 'seat' tickets have sold, but I think there is, at least at the moment, a number of terrace home tickets for sale, which means they will probably not open up the Pettril End, for either set of supporters. Think we're looking at a 10,000+ crowd.

It actually works out better for us, if you come at us. So, looking forward to that

Bromley's manager pointed out they came way to attacking and open against us and we destroyed them so if we do get space at the other end Tolaj and the midfield should be loving that, but football is a funny old game, for us and the talk of Carlisle's "heart and desire" we've shown bucketloads in the past three games to produce three devastating performances so anything less than matching them for that would be unacceptable from our point of view.

The crowd is no excuse either as we have gone to 11k Notts County and won for a start and most of these boys have produced the goods at a higher level so we need a professional performance and hopefully then the quality will shine through, long as we hit the levels of the past three games we will be fine, if we don't as with any game in this league we could get punished so its down to us to be on it.

How do you know that they will not prioritise the easier games? are you one of the coaches?

I'm not sure they have the scope to be prioritising games, they might need 4 wins from 4.

Agree with Brian, against teams that park the bus we lose our way. A ding ding battle and I fancy us to take more chances than them.

Be a tough game regardless. But I’m more confident if they attack us, Bromley tried that on Saturday. I would take a point from this one though, they have some decent players and I don’t know how they’ve ended up where they are.

Most of the above posts make it clear we are not expecting an easy game, so not really sure what you’re on about.

We actually struggle more against teams who sit in, and since you can’t do that as you need a win, it may suit us better.

Having said that, it’s also classically us to go and beat Crewe, bradford and Walsall, and then cock up against second bottom.

We're going to absolutely destroy you and just when you're begging for mercy we'll bring on 20k/week in wages off the bench for a laugh.

Up the spine-tingling, free flowing, handbrake off Valiants.

I remember that after the away fixture last year, the Carlisle local radio commentators admiring Ben Garrity and suggesting their chairman should get the chequebook out to sign him in the January window.

They couldn’t even sign Lowe once we went in for him so they have no chance with Garrity.

How hard our players work when not in possession is the reason when in possession the goals have started to flow .

I personally like Carlisle however on Good Friday you will need be at your best and Vale have a off day .

Carlisle 0 Vale 3

I just cannot see it the confidence going through the Vale players and the support are so up for it ,the 2 combined says Vale will win to nil .

UTV

I can see us approaching this with a degree of calmness and professionalism. Carlisle will likely fly out of the blocks. I can see us letting them burn themselves out with as little damage as possible. Don't panic if we go 1 or even 2 down. I can see a 3 or 4 - 2 win with a 2nd half turnaround.

Hopefully all the above is nonsense and we win comfortably, but just think with their 2 wins and the situation they're in, they'll come out flying at us first 20 mins especially.

Because in their position, they cannot afford to not prioritise every game. They can't give up on any points.
I think this is going to be a tough close game
