Carlisle Utd v Port Vale match thread - 18th April

Am I right in thinking that if we win on Friday, then a win on Monday would see us promoted IF we better Walsall and Doncaster's results?

It's obvious that we will win the game convincingly, I won't be there.

That's called complacency.  This will be a tough game. A point wouldn't be bad, a win would be excellent.

Carlisle desperately need all the 3 points on Good Friday, extremely hard one but on paper.

Vale should win but this is Port Vale and sometimes do things the hard way.

Draw would be my prediction.

Could win league Monday

Don't go down that road, being afraid of doing or saying something because someone might, just might not like it. We have enough of this kind of crap from our big brother government, don't start self censuring.

You’re talking out your hoop. There’s a difference between self censure and showing concern for fellow humans. There may be people on here with a gambling problem or recovering from one and I don’t want to be pushing my fiver each way into their day.

Have a nice day.

Really looking forward to this one. Carlisle will be full of confidence after back-to-back wins, but I actually think that’ll play into our hands. We’ve struggled to break teams down at times this season, but we’ve always looked better against sides who come at us.

Donny and Bradford have both got tough games before we play on Friday—if they drop points, three points on Friday could all but seal automatic promotion for us, even if it’s not done mathematically.

An early goal to quiet the 10,000+ crowd would be perfect. From there, I reckon we’ll control the game.

Going 3-1 Vale.

If we beat Carlisle and Grimsby, then we're mathematically up if Walsall and Wimbledon lose one of their Easter games.

We would be on 82, whilst:

  • the maximum Walsall could get if they lost one would be 81.
  • the maximum Wimbledon could get if they lost one would be 78.

Doncaster and Bradford can catch us and it's hard to project Doncaster as they have a game in hand tonight.

Walsall play - Harrogate H + Newport A

Wimbledon play - Chesterfield H + Gills A

It still looks like Wimbledon away will be the first proper opportunity to mathematically confirm it, imo.

Surely Wimbledon would be irrelevant if we win both as if we both win both our games we'd have 82 they could only get 81?

As mentioned before the complexity is added in that Doncaster and Bradford play each other the week after so we don't need to be 7 points clear of either of them just 4 clear of one of the two and 5 the other if Walsall win both or W1 D1

Yes, right you are. Don't know where my Maths was going.

Win both over Easter and if Walsall lose one, we're up on Monday.

Anybody got their tickets yet? Last I heard, Carlisle hadn't sent them.

Yes, got mine after Bromley match

Does anyone know if we will be getting anymore tickets for this ?

Highly unlikely Texas my friend, especially with the Cumbrians expecting a bumper crows given the ticket offer.

Home end, I'd probably stand in the paddock level with the Vale fans on the opposite side. Behind the goal probably a bit risky and next to the Vale fans in the seats probably too tempting to celebrate our many goals.

Tickets seem to be available again now.
