Summer transfer rumours and speculation

There definitely are better options. That's why I added the caveat of short term cover.

At the risk of annoying anyone even further, it's worth mentioning that our standout player in preseason is in his 4th spell with us.

I expect he will go to Bristol Rovers the day before the window closes when he is desperate enough to play for peanuts...

Tbh I'm surprised he hasn't already gone to Bristol Rovers given his connections to DC. Interestedly enough though when he was at Portsmouth he was set to sign for Oxford but that move fell through as Portsmouth failed to bring in his replacement who ironically enough is now our very own Jayden Stockley.

At least you didn't suggest Kian Harratt or James Wilson or something like I've seen the odd person on Facebook suggesting is what we need 😄

As for actual striker targets, it's very hard to guess really. If you told me we'd be signing Byers before we did I wouldn't have believed it. Not knowing what kind of budget there is left or what the club plans to do with it (ie; maybe see how we go and look at end of window or January possibly), means given we have 4 strikers already and brought in Waine, it's very possible we don't add in anybody else extra.

We know Stockley's contract is up at the end of the season so I imagine he will be monitored for performances and we will plan accordingly 🙂

Could be underwhelming but it is what it is sometimes.

I didn't realise Harrison had scored as many as he did at MK. Not bad if you go on the ratio to just starts plus the upheaval of managers. Like I said there's a player in there. I think the attitude/itchy feet he appeared to display at Vale and maybe other clubs would count against him ever returning even if Moore did want him(I don't think he does or would go there tbh).

Said for a while it's about time we dropped on a gem on loan upfront like Lowe did for Walsall last season or Defoe years ago for Bournemouth, we've had some decent loanees elsewhere but striker wise they've either looked disinterested or not good enough/too young and raw.

There's a reason a lot of people don't just go back to dating old girlfriends. Its rarely as good as the first time around.

That analogy just doesn’t fit for every former player though. &nbsp

*I’m not saying it does for Harrison though

Speaking of goalkeepers and ex-players. Wasn’t he around in the season where we had 8 keepers or something daft?

To be fair on this you’re comparing apples and oranges with Mitch. He is just about to enter the prime of his career and did a very good job on loan on a couple of those occasions. Harrison is long past that and always gave the impression he thought he was doing us a favour being here which for a very mediocre talent in the first place just doesn’t cut it for me.

A fair point. I'm more irked by ex-players being the ultimate no-no. As if access to Wikipedia makes people Ray Williams.

Was that the season we had about 5 nationalities in goal(4 after Alnwick)? Roos was the best of a bad bunch tbf. Evitimov, Fasan and Mehmet and we moaned at Ripley. Crumbs those 3 were bad 😱

I never for one moment suggested he was going to be a signing. We won't sign a permanent striker unless one leaves. We will bring in someone on loan.

Just for the record we will not be interested in Adam Reach either. Similar to Shipley.

A lower end Championship team might still take a punt on Reach and the same with Angus Gunn tbf

I think we'll definitely sign a keeper in the next week pre Rotherham.

Loan striker maybe towards the end of August.

And no ex Wednesday players have signed or looking likely ( as yet ).

Any unrealistic hope we were to sign Michael Smith has ended as he’s predictably gone to Preston.

Our next and final forward signing will probably be a loan.

Ah 6 nationalities and 9 keepers😲 I'd forgot about Santos and his 1 and only appearance
