Be a great signing if true.

Always looked good against us but we can’t base opinions on players against what they’ve done against us apparently…….

Yes correct. A player plays 40-50 times a season.

I might be wrong but think last we were in League One some on here were wanting us to get him then. Would be nice to get excited about a striker signing with some name recognition in this division.

I think the point was basing opinions solely on what they've done against us

United fans were saying how Gore would be the best player in the league when he came to us.....look how that ended. I take what fans of their prem league clubs (especially supposed 'top 6' clubs') say about their youth players with a very large pinch of salt. Prem fans basically think league 1 & 2 is local non league football.

If Amos is out for 3 months, then the rumours of a younger goalkeeper make complete sense to me. You could land a very good youth goalkeeper just likes others have done in the past.

For me signing an experienced goal keeper is all about mitigating risk in such an important position.

There are likely lots of examples of an inexperienced goal keeper coming in and doing really, really well and lots of examples of it not working as at Vale when Jak Alnwick left late on in the 2017 (?) Jan transfer window.

If an inexperienced 'keeper doesn't work out  and loses confidence then that loss of confidence pervades through the whole team and it may not prove easy to sign a good one on an emergency loan as it proved in 2017.

Just my opinions but if I was DM at this moment in time I would be looking to sign an experienced 'keeper and I would have kept hold of Ripley.

From what was going on at the time, there seemed to be an inference he was trouble in the camp once dropped. Took some time off didn't he afterwards which they said was for family reasons, but all seems very coincidental considering he ends up leaving anyway.

I don't think we'll ever really know if there was anything going on, but as it is he left anyway.

Can only assume though reason why another keeper is taking a while to source is it's unplanned and there's some caution with budget (so not to impact on any other targets)

I aren't sure we are in the market for an experienced keeper tbh with having Amos(although injured) and Marosi, purely guessing here but i would think we are after a keeper in the 20-24yr old bracket who we can nurture over the coming years(or maybe even a young loan one)

Only player I can think of to take paternity leave halfway through a season only to then sign for another club.
