And it won't be a Turkish premier league team either, so I rest my case, the only thing falling flat is the utter drivel you are spouting my friend 🤣🤣🤣

Says the man who said he wasn't a league one player.

was he playing in league one last season errr no he was in league two, where does it say that I said he's never played in league one sunshine, you need Specsavers my friend 🤣🤣🤣

With the goalkeeper situation, I have feeling that we will review signing another keeper towards the end of the transfer window just to see how close Amos is to coming back and also to see how Marko performs on that month too.

I don't think that we should be looking at anyone else permanently beyond central defensive positions (including the keeper) unless we see movement in the other direction. Waine seems to be putting himself about in pre-season and Paton is number 4 on the strikers list with a point to prove after a difficult 12 months. Let's see where we are after the first 3 or 4 games.

The defence would be where I'd be looking first, I just feel we're that solid cb(for 3rd tier standard) short. We don't want a repeat of the defending we saw last time in league one.

That's not to say I wouldn't welcome a striker as well but I'd imagine other than loans it's dependent on someone like Ojo leaving?

I remember Phil Sproson talking about Crab Man (our nickname for EH, for those who watched My Name is Earle) at the start of his second season, shortly before he left and was rather lethargic in his efforts on the football pitch, PS said EH wouldnt be here much longer because "That lad loves a signing on fee"

So is he a nomadic user of football clubs to inflate his net worth? Or just someone with ants in his pants.........

I'm curious about the 'signing on fee' because I was led to believe years ago that players got a lump sum up front but I think now it is more like a bonus paid over the duration of the contract, so I am curious (maybe both systems are used).

Does this mean Vale have released the official team numbers now...??

I don't think so. I was wondering about squad numbers a week or so ago. Looked up past seasons online and the club tended to release a news article of squad numbers week before the first game.

I'll be surprised if we leave #10 vacant. Would certainly spark expectation that we are signing a #10.

Just to clarify, my point was that as short term cover, he'd be better than an unknown quantity. Works hard, wins a lot of headers. That's all I meant really.

Huddersfield are splashing the cash. Signed Alfie May.

Christ, you really are a constant source of irritation. Does Preparation H work on you too?

Works wonders with some ghee, but are you capable of anything other than nostalgia for your transfer tips?

I'm not trying to impress anyone, mate. Just saying what I think. Are we allowed to do that? I know you objected to talking about Moore's coaching team, so perhaps ex-players ore out of bounds too?

Sure, do what you want. It's a forum and you're as entitled to make fun of me as I am to disagree with your posts too.

The coaching team stuff just falls under 'why should I care', the same way I don't really get why people want rolling updates on how many pies, shirts and STs are sold. Doesn't mean much to me as a fan, I'll leave the financial analysis and the decisions on backroom spend and recruitment to the club. I've got zero insight to give feeding off scraps from news articles and HMRC filings, or perusing wikipedia to judge a person's coaching credentials. All I can judge is what I see on the pitch.

So... Ellis Harrison. Didn't exactly set the world on fire for us, but for a striker it's as much about the team around the striker as it is the player himself unless he's just different class (lets face it, he isn't). He's also older since he was last with us, and there's obviously other strikers about. Unless it's a youth player who can grow a bit and come back a better player (permanently or on loan), I tend to believe players move on for a reason and so should we as a club. It's just not very inspiring to look back at the past and go back to it. Have some ambition 😄

There's a reason a lot of people don't just go back to dating old girlfriends. Its rarely as good as the first time around.

Surely there is better striker options than Ellis Harrison.
